I will be using Mobil 1 10w30 year round starting when my 4runner gets to the 5K mile oil change interval. Mobil 1 10w30 gets the best used oil analysis results in our Toyota 4.7 V8's on www.bobistheoilguy.com used oil analysis forum. It also has a cold cranking number of 3967 at -25 degrees F. That is as good as many 5w30 dino oils that are recommended for below "0" use. As long as the cold cranking number is below 7000 you won't have any problem with your engine so the Mobil 1 10w30 should be good for any Toyota 4.7 V8 year round in the continental United States. Check the site out and checkout the used oil analysis section, if you do I think you all will start using the Mobil 1 10w30 oil in your 4.7 V8's.

Mobil 1, 5W-30 every 5k starting at 1k, change the filter every 2.5k.

I change all my cars at 4k miles with a Toyota filter and Mobile 1 5w30. My Lexus has 115k miles on it and when I removed the valve cover and oil pan it was spotless. My wife came outside and saw her car taken apart. It was priceless on her face when I told her I was just curious as to how the inside of the engine looked!
ironTrap, what makes GC different than domestic Castrol? Is it more expensive? Does it meet some ACEA speck that domestic Castrol does not. I understand that the API is a one size fits all approach and you have to be careful what you are using. ACEA has customized specs and is very specific, unlike the API.

I just did my first oil change this weekend. 2200 miles on odo and noticed some metal in the oil. Glad I didn't wait until 5,000 miles. Took me a while cuz some gorilla in Japan had the filter on so tight. I got fed up did the old school trick "screwdriver".
BTW, the filter on the truck was made in Japan, but the filter I bought from www.trdparts4u.com are made in Thailand. Different part number but same size filter.

From what I've learned, GC has a much better additive package than domestic Castrol. It's also a little heavier than other 0w30's. The most unique thing about it is that it's green. Go to the site Pitbull mentions, you can find out more than you want to know! That's where I learned about GC.
