Swap Limited consoles '97 to '00

My 2000 frame is rusted so I bought a 97 Limited for $500 from a guy at work. I'm trying to move over as many of the upgraded items as I can.

I am wondering if I will be able to move all the wires around enough to put in my 2000 center console & instrument panel. 97 cup-holders are a joke. Of course this is all moot if the radio slot and AC controls are not in the exact same place. I know the vents are different but I am hoping I can move the ducts over to make it fit.

The security blinking light, ECT switch and rear window switch will all have to move from the parking brake cowl to up above the AC Control. Also I'm going to try and see if I can supply power to the 2 additional 12 volt outlets. I doubt it.

Has anyone attempted this?

I've got a 99+ Console and center dash in my 97, mine is a manual though, so I just had to wire up the window switch and re-pin the hazard light harness. Here's a write-up.

The console is extremely simple, you just take out the old center console, swap the parking brake levers, and the mount under the console, and it'll bolt right up.

Thanks - that thread looks like it will help a lot... I may end up keeping the 97 instrument panel install the '00 console and move the switches from the e-brake over to the panel by my left knee... Having 4 cup-holders is tempting... Previous owner punched his right elbow through the console compartment lid so I have to do something.

I just did this a couple of days ago. The console swap is easy. I had some some additional work because my 97 has rear heat and the donor 2000 model did not. I had to do some cutting with my dremel due to the differences. I've been thinking seriously about going back to the junk yard and getting the dash bezel and swapping it out as well.

Finished last night - easy job - only weird thing is rear window switch is illogical when it is facing you (up is on the bottom).

Toyota made awesome dash cupholders mine were 15 years old and held up great when i sold it, the only negative was you couldnt see the time and you couldnt adjust the heater. The center console ones suck if you have a standard and have a 20+ oz cup in them, and if you have a smaller cup it can fall over in the cupholder, or rip the lid off it in the seat. Plus the straws poke my arm when have my arm on the shifter and armrest.
