Swapped wheels...now TPMS light is on....

So I bought a new runner and swapped the wheels and tires from my old one on to the new. I still have the old Runner in the driveway, haven't listed it for sale yet. TPMS light is on in the new Runner. So I searched the forums and this is what I have learned. The TPMS sensors are paired to the car. What I can't discern a straight answer on is are the sensors able to be reprogrammed to the new Runner? Should I run both Runners to a shop and have them swap the sensors? Just buy new ones?

Had the same problem on mine. Talked to a few techs at the dealership, you'll have to take it in to a shop and have the new ones programmed. I never did this, because the TPMS sensor light didn't bug me enough, and it comes on anytime I air my tires down anyway. I also switch to a different set of wheels and tires for winter, which causes the same problem.

Based on a few threads out there you might be able to do either, decide based on which works better for you I guess.

What year is the old runner? Some vehicles are not compatible based off of MHZ.

My GX470 had a switch under the dash that allowed you to switch between two sets of TPMS sensors for winter/summer. Do our 4runner have this? it was super handy because I had sets I'd swap back and forth. I could go out to the garage and look, but... lazy.

The 4Runner doesn't have a reset switch. Also, from what information I've gathered, other Toyotas do have this switch but it only sets the psi threshold at which the tpms light will go off.

Easy fix. Happened on mine when I swapped wheels with my Tacoma. Most places that do TPMS can easily scan each TPMS (without taking anything off the car) then plug it into your ODB port and re-learn it. Took a whole 10min to do mine at Costco.

Agreed on the 10mins... I had the service writer do one in the parking lot...

Pulled in to Discount Tire....they used their little programming tool...it took 10 minutes and cost nothing.

Does anyone know if stock 2004 4runner LImited rims (17inch) will fit on a new 2015 runner SR5? The only difference I see is the wheels go from an R35 to an R15 (20mm offset difference)
