Swapping Front + Rear Coils only on TRD Pro

Has anyone ever done this?

About to pull the plug on FJPro 14" 600# Front coils or King 14" 600# coils and some sort of Rear Coils (any suggestions?)

I'm doing this in an effort to lift my TRDP without compromising the off road capability, which is why I've decided against a spacer lift.

I've read on here for hours and hours and still can't really find the answers I'm looking for which is why I started this thread.

My understanding is that the TRD Pro has 13" 520# coils in the front, therefore by adding 14" 600# I would achieve the 1" lift via the coil and then also a little bit of lift due to the weight difference. (Goal is 2" of lift overall)

Then I would be able to replace the stock rear coils with 1.5" coils to achieve a lift.

Has anyone done this? Is this a good idea, bad idea, any suggestions, etc? Should I just buy the Toytec TRD Pro lift and call it a day? The more I think about it, the more I believe that I should just go with the Toytec kit to achieve my desired lift.

I don't mind a small amount of rake. Also, in case it matters I do plan on doing mild offroading in the future, but nothing crazy.

I ran the Toytec 2 inch spacer set up with mild off roading for over a year w/o issue. I think it is a good value if one already owns the Pro.
My advice would be to go with the Toytec TRD Pro 2 inch spacer lift with true 2 inch rear coil (I have found Icon is true to 2 inch). If you leave the rear coils stock you will be dragging ass when loaded up.
 
Subscribed since I'm looking for other options for rear coils on my FJ TRD suspension kit. It seems like Wheeler's T13 springs are the most popular but I'm not sure if they are the best.

Bilstein has new B12 springs but it doesn't seem like anyone has used them yet.
 
Food for thought - if you don't "brick" the spring at full compression - a spacer (inside the spring area of the coilover, not on top) will perform identically to a longer spring of the same spring rate. If you do brick the spring - somethings probably going to break.

If you don't hit full compression on your shocks - a top spacer will perform identically to a coil spacer or longer spring of the same rate. If you do bottom out the shock - it's probably going to break.

I do not know how close OEM coils are to bottoming out on full compression. I also do not know how close the OEM TRD PRO springs are to bricking on full compression. For that reason I have no idea what works best for you. I don't know where to find specific information on compressed and extended lengths on them.

Personally - unless you're running heavy stuff up front, I'd stick with a softer spring rate. The ride will be more comfortable in most cases.
 
The toytec trd pro 2inch lift will get you there. It's not really a "spacer" lift like others talk about. And its springs in the rear.

Check out the latest posts from the other trd pro lift thread, this setup was discussed. I’m running the Toytec 2” lift but am also looking into other options just exchanging springs.

Just spoke to Lone Star Offroad and they quoted about $275 including alignment. Also reccomended springs instead of the spacer lift, confirming what I was thinking. Will probably use them.
 
I run the OME 3" Medium Duty coils for the rear on stock shocks and performs fine so far for what I have done.

My fronts are on spacers and I have had no issues as of right now.

2019 TRD Pro - FOX Coilovers for Sale

New to the forum!

I have a 2019 TRD Pro 4Runner

Added to 285 BFGs KO2s and front end SSO slimline bumper with LED and smitty winch.

With the added front end weight and tire size I am getting some compression.

I am upgrading my suspension and wanted to see if anyone would want the OEM Fox Coilovers for the front end that come on the Pro.

1400 road miles on them.

If in the Dallas area I'd take $1300 if needing to be shipped off then buyer would pay for shipping cost. Any takers?

Fox factory 2.5 sells for $1399. I think your priced a bit too high.

The guy at my local off road shop just advised spacers in the back, what size spacers should I get with those springs to be fairly level (I don't mind a little of rake). He says 1" but I fear that will give me reverse rake.

Those particular coils you linked will not work on the pro suspension, the shock body needs to do be 3 inner diameter, those are 2.5

OMG! I'm in the same process of lifting my 2015 pro.

I added some front end weight by adding the SSO bumper and Warn winch. I got my hands on a set of FJPro suspension as a spare.

I've also did lots of reading/research and debating with the weight i added if i should replace my 4R with the FJPro suspension or just buy the Bilstein 650 springs and slap it on my 4R suspension.

I'm also going with the toytec 2" lift which i just received in the mail today.

Any advice would be appreciated.
 
Sorry to bump an old thread but I am a new 4runner owner and need some help understanding what can and cannot be done to the TRD Pro Fox suspension.

I recently purchased a preowned 2018 TRD Offroad w/ KDSS and my friend sold me his Fox suspension off his 2019 TRDP for cheap.

I have them installed but have since added a winch, bumper, full engine skid and rock sliders. I would like to change the springs but am not sure what I can swap in.

I know Eibach makes springs for the TRDP Fox suspension but I am in Canada and they're backordered for months here.

I recently contacted Icon to see if they had springs that would work, specifically the 158508 (front) and 52700 (rear) but was told neither of the springs are designed to work with the factory fox assemblies and that they don't have any springs that will work with the Fox factory assemblies.

I also have access to a free pair of new OME 885 fronts, would those work?

Sorry for the long post but I am lost with what to do.

The icon 158504 will work in the front as others have done this with the Fox shocks. For the rear you can do anything, dobinsons, king, OME etc, just limit the lift height to about an inch.
