Swapping out roof rack

I have a 2016 4-Runner w/ the T-Force package including a roof rack.

I am not happy with it because the fasteners and hardware have rusted and it also creates a lot of wind resistance.

I'd like to swap to the tube version of the roof rack. How easily can this be accomplished? If I just buy the parts can it be done by someone with minimal experience or is this something for the dealership?

Check out this thread 2019 Trd Pro Roof Rack Availability It may answer a lot of your questions. Your best bet is find a Pro rack that someone has removed on this forum or locally on Craigslist.

A different aftermarket basket (which is what you have) will be cheaper than the Pro rack, and functionally it's pretty much the same thing. It's not the flush look, but I actually prefer what I have to the pro racks. I like the wind faring, but maybe that's what you're trying to avoid. But that pops off in 2 seconds if you don't like it.

This cost me $50. $55 if you include the plasti-dip I used to spruce it up. And it attaches to OEM crossbars, so install is 5 minutes.

Just another option.
