I recently replaced the front and rear sway bar bushings with Energy Suspension bushings. Research on this forum and the net plus reading through the Toyota repair manual, I noticed different views on which way the cutout of the bushing should face upon install. Does it really matter which direction the cutout of the bushing faces?

I don't see how there could be a 'best' direction - force is applied in both directions to the bushing depending on which way the suspension is flexing.

When in doubt, follow the directions in the FSM or match the orientation of the factory bushing, but [MENTION=139000]phattyduck[/MENTION] is right regarding forces applied
