sway bar end boots are ripped

Hi all,

anyone had problems with aftermarket end links? I was reading here that it shouldn't make too much a difference. Then again, I usually do OEM because I don't want to go back in there and fix anything. I noticed the boot on the end links are ripped. the last item on my repair list is find the source of the last little clunk in the car. I'm hoping its not the xreas system, but it seems like based of reading its 90% the sway bar moving around. Going to see once i jack up the car if the sway bar has excess movement. I was able to put my hand on the sway bar end links, and they seemed to move pretty freely. I Assume they are supposed to be ridged? I'm not a mechanic to know excess play is. OEM endlinks are 80 bucks? Kinda seems like a lot for what they are.

Edit : This supposed to be in 4th gen section my bad! Mod can you move?

Boots don't last forever, and they can rot like any other rubber boot. Sway bar links should not move just by grabbing them. They're meant to rotate/pivot when the suspension cycles. 4th gen or not they'll still function the same way.

$80 for OEM links isn't bad considering I sell mine for $200.

I have torn front non OEMs on the street! If you dont offroad at all (and i mean like never) then get some OEM's.

If you flex it out any then I would buy MStuds!! They are priced very well and are very stout.

Was just hopping not to add another expensive item to the list, recently spent 2.4k on this car on a major overhaul. now i want it perfect though =P.

You don't really need to stick with OEM in this situation unless you want to.

I put aftermarket on mine not thinking it was a big deal, after 2 years of moderate use(not severe) both have broke. I put used OEM on and have not had problems since. OEM or better

Mstudt is right. If you stay on road then some better quality part store ones will do good. Just dont go with the cheapest. If you look at them you can tell if they are a full cast part or spot welded. The ones with spot welded ends break pretty easily.

You can get some duralast ones for $40 a set with a lifetime warranty. I already have gotten one replacement because I messed them up while modifying them haha

I have had fantastic results from moog products. My moog LBJ have been on for 30K miles now. Came with zerx fittings installed for greasing. Moog end links are in great shape after 15K miles. To be clear, only 120 miles of that 15k were off road (not just dirt roads, and no, I don't work for moog).

What I hear from moog is, either you get one that is awesome direct replacement, or you get a duds. more experienced people please correct me otherwise...

Lifetime warranty is meanless to me if I have to go in there and fix it. then again, end links looks extremely trivial to replace...
