Still for sale guys.....need these gone
Just to let everyone know. These are the last 4th Gen, 5th Gen, and FJ Cruiser links available until the end of next summer. Once this set is gone there won't be anymore until I get back in town!
The bolts I received with my front links were very long too, but I just put them on and tightened them, seems to be working ok.Mike, did you receive the two IM's regarding the bolts you sent me for the front links being too long? Never heard back from you. Thanks.

Yeah, I tried that. It works on the upper bolt, but on the lower bolt the nut (even with some washers I dug up) runs into the non-threaded portion of the bolt. No worries, I mean if I don't hear from him soon, I'll just spend the $$ for new grade 8 bolts.
Hey guys, this is IMPORTANT.
My links kept loosening themselves over and over (tightened them twice after putting them on), so I was getting frustrated. Then I noticed how I had put on the cone spacers incorrectly. This is how I had originally installed the links:
I then realized something was off and googled cone spacers, and all the images pointed to the fact that I had installed it incorrectly. Mstudt had also sent this to me via PM but it was cryptic and I didn't get it at the time. The cone spacer goes between the heim joint on the link and the swaybar, or between the heim joint and the control arm on the truck side. So, I corrected it and it looks like this (this also straightened out the links as previously they were slanted).
You guys may already know this, but I had never used a cone spacer before and it was new to me, so I figured I'd post it up. I need to run this for more miles before I can confirm that they don't loosen again.
If the bolts are too long, why not just cut them down, file out the lands until you can thread the nut on and call it a day? Unless access to tools is a problem? Even then all you need is a hacksaw and a file...
Yeah, I can cut them down and file. Or I can go to the hardware store and buy the right size Grade 8 bolts.
Both are beside the point. My time is valuable and if I have to spend 3-4 hours to make things right, and get under the truck 2-3 times to troubleshoot, what's the point of buying a "kit" and having it shipped to your door? Look, Mstudt is a good guy who has been doing business here for a while. I want to be respectful of him and not bash him too much.
But facts are facts. He seems to have dropped the ball on a few orders recently (see a few posts above where someone got even worse service than I did).
I agree. You pay for something like this and it should be plug and play. Unfortunately, sh*t happens. I'm just saying what I would have done in your situation. Doubt it would take more than 10-15 minutes - quicker than a trip to the store. I'm assuming the long bolts are grade 8 here and not something weaker.
Best of luck.
This is what I don't understand. Everybody on here knows I'm gone traveling until summer. What can I honestly do while hiking a 2186 mile trail. Had I known it would be so difficult to find 7/16 grade 8 bolts I would have had my daughter go pick them Ace. The bolts should have been 7/16 x 2, and for some reason 3 people received longer bolts. Out of the thousand or so of these I've sold only a handful of people have had issues.

Now you are pissing me off with your pissy attitude.
What you could be doing is not sell kits when you are out hiking. What you absolutely SHOULD be doing is sending a simple 'sorry i messed up' message instead of *****ing at people who paid you and didn't get what was advertised. You accepted payment didn't you? Being out on the hike didn't seem to stop you from taking my PayPal. So man up and take responsibility.
Sending folks incorrect parts and being condescending about it is unprofessional. If your daughter can get them at ace, I can manage that too. Except I'd have no reason to pay you the advertised price, or even buy from you in the first place. My time is very valuable and I would prefer not to muck around with amateur kits that I have to spend hours finishing.
Anyway, enjoy your trip.
