Switch Blanks in Console

In the center console, what are the two black switch spots for? I have an 07 Limited AWD and just cannot figure out what would go there. So, since I cannot figure out what was SUPPOSED to go there, I am figuring WHAT I can put there.

Where can you get switches that look the same as ones in the console?

Thanks ahead.

If you have two blank spots, they are probably for the adjustable suspension. One switch turned it on & off, the other was for adjusting it up & down. Mine is/was the same way.

If you're talking about blanks right in from on center arm rest, they're for the Auto Level Up/Down switch and Auto Level on/off switch.

I guess I need to check before I ask next time.

Anyone know where to get switches that look the same and fit into those slots?

I'm also curious where to get the switch blanks... I have plans to try and modify one to become a USB plug for my nav unit but if it goes horribly wrong I'll need a spare :)

I bought the blank inserts for the center console (where the auto-leveling buttons would go) from my local dealer. $4 a piece if I remember correctly.

The Owners Manual for my '08 confirms they're for the suspension leveling system.

I'm sure you can get switches from any dealership or, if you can get the one out for the descent control (if you have it) or whatever switch is in there and get the p/n off it, you might be able to Google it and find it cheaper.

One of my future mods is to mount some bright "flood" lights on the rear hitch to help with backing. Between the tint and all the blind spots, more light is the only answer.

This why I want to put other switches in the console. I might have to settle for switches that are not labeled correctly, but at least they will be in the right place.

I use mine for the side alley lights and the front Light Force lights.

They glow when on.

I use the blank to left of the wheel for the back up light. It's a toggle switch.

I just added some rear stealth fog lights a few days ago. I used a relay to make the lights come on when I hit reverse. I also installed a rocker switch on my dash that lets me turn on the lights anytime I want to without the car being in reverse.

Edit: I should mention that the oem rocker switches are for my emergency lights (strobes). The round rocker is about $3 from the RatShack and is what I am using for the rear fogs.

Tell me more about these. Where did you get them and where do you mount them?

I picked up the switches and harnesses from Sparks Toyota in South Carolina. I just clipped off the end that plugged into the FJ and ran the lead wire to the lights.

Switch P/N: <a href="http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=603&Part_cat=24&parts_id=1971">PT297-35070-AS</a>

The 2 switches are hooked up to 4 lights mounted in the front. I haven't found a mounting solution for the rear i like yet. With my luck if i mount them on the bottom of my bumper, they'll get torn off!!

Does anyone know the part number of the center console piece that has the cutouts for the five blanks shown in the pictures in this thread? Thanks.

Thanks ryanbt. I've looked at that diagram and I was actually leaning toward it being part #29, but I wasn't sure. It's hard to tell from that diagram.

I just need the piece that includes the 5 blanks. It's the first piece you remove when disassembling the center console to get to the radio (at least it's the first piece I remove). It's technically a piece from the limited and when I click on 29, it just brings up the sr5 sport edition piece which just has 3 blanks. I guess the technical name for the part may be panel cover rear cover, but I was just hoping somebody knew for sure.

You are right it could be 29. Maybe someone with the limited edition can pop their console piece off and see if the part number is stamped on it somewhere.

That would be great. Also a pic showing what harness those heated switches are attached to would be great too. I'm trying to figure out if nonlimiteds are prewired for the heated seat switches. I see a couple of nonused harnesses in mine when I pop that cover off, but not sure what they are intended for.
