Switch in glove box?

Switch in glove box? (Edit: Beat-Sonic TV-Controller)

Anyone have the slightest idea what this switch, in the picture below, could of been for? It's attached to cat 5 cable in the glove box and goes through a knock out, back behind the dash. I've tried switching, but have not noticed any change. Who knows if it is even still hooked up to anything.

Just a guess but it looks like some kind of video input selector.

What year is the 4runner. Is it new to you. Is there an aftermarket radio and so on.

Also ... That may be a cat5 connector but the wiring is wrong for standard cat5 computer based communication.

I'm guessing you have/had an aftermarket backup camera or DVD player or something installed.

Depends on the other end. While the colors might not match up to the T568A/B standards it would still work as long as both ends are setup the same (or swapped to make a crossover). At the end of the day the computer doesn't care if it's using a blue wire or a brown wire as long as it's copper.

This is exactly what it is, I have one. I use it for a camera I installed on the front of my truck. This switch allows you to play media, do NAV inputs, etc. while the truck is in motion.
