Switch Wiring

Hey there,

I have the SSC2 Ditch lights, with the back-light option, and Purchased a custom switch to utilize both lights (not at the same time obviously), in other words I ordered a CH4x4 dual push switch with the following diagram;

I also purchased the Diode Dynamics 4 pin, 3 way switch harness and I'd like to wire the CH4x4 switch to it in place of the 3 way switch it came with.

Wondering how to do this, the Diode switch only has 3 wires, and the CH4x4 has 5.

You essentially have two circuits on the CH4X4 switch. The black and yellow are your hot and ground for the backlights. The other three are for switching your lights.

You could trace the wires or use a multimeter but I believe based on looking at this, that on part A of the Diode Dynamics diagram, the red wire is your hot wire. That should go to the red wire on your switch. The other two colors on your switch, blue and green, would go to the Diode wires that are blue and yellow. That’s how I would wire it and see if it works.

I’m sure someone will tell me if I’m wrong

With all that said, I would probably need to find a ground for the black wire, it's pretty short, so it would need to be extended if I wanted the switch to illuminate?!

Yes. Need a complete circuit if you want the light to illuminate. You’ll need to extend it but it just needs to get to any bolt on the chassis. If you’re putting it next to an OEM switch, you could figure out which is the illumination hot wire and which is the ground and just tap those. That’s my plan whenever I finally get around to installing the lights and switches I have laying around
