Ok, I had a seat heater installed when I had my driver seat reupholstered over the summer . As per instructions I wired it to the battery. The obvious problem was it would stay on if the button was turned off. This is what killed my optima battery when my gf took my truck one day. Anyway had he truck at mechanic for other problems and asked if he could wire it the proper way. He did and put a relay on it but stuck the power wire into a 20a fuse in fuse box. I'm assuming there has to be a better source whe I could use a good connector? Any info appreciated.

Your wording is a bit confusing, but I assume you mean he put the ignition sense (trigger) lead of the relay to a 20A ignition switched fuse? This is good, and the add a fuse or fuse tap is a good way to do this, just pay attention to orientation when you plug it in.
The main power lead to the relay (and then seat) would be best left directly to the battery via an appropriately sized fuse near the battery post or an accessory fuse panel if you have one. A high current device would be best run from the battery if you have the time and materials to do so.
