So over the last couple of weeks I have noticed some small oil drips collecting and coming from the center of my 4r, but couldn't really determine the source without it being up in he air. I took it to my mechanic...... Turns out one of the O rings was giving out and causing the leak. The dealership closest to me was out of the $3 O rings and the service guy said this is very common with higher mileage 4th gens (I just hit 100k a week ago).
The job calls for 10.7 hrs of labor. If I hadn't bought an extended warranty when I bought my 4r 5k ago I would have a $1080 repair bill for a faulty $3 part. 0 out of pocket plus rental car. A GOOD extended warranty is well worth the money in my opinion. I paid $1700 for mine and with the T-case issue and one other minor repair, I've nearly broke even with 95% of the warranty left.
