Who is bickering... it is a useful discussion unlike 95% of the other comments on this thread.

I agree that there should be another way to structure a build thread... But, its really on the OP... Simply post all the updates to the first post and let the rest of the garbage sink to the bottom. Or start a new thread. One for the progress... Another for the discussion.

That looks like it will be fun!

Did you guys consider a watts linkage upfront for a bit better road handling? Like the CRC setup Full Traction has for jeeps? Long travel upfront with a panhard makes for some interesting handling dynamics.

Also from an earlier post you mentioned you put a 6" lift on a 4runner with KDSS. How did you keep the panhard bar from hitting the sway bar in the rear?

I have wondered how an FZJ-80 axle with the ABS sensors would work with the 4Runner. The pick-ups look very similar and one home there could be some capability.

I would agree it would be awesome to see this work down to something doable for those of us wanting to do this swap for less than the cost of a new 4Runner. This build is way more that I would want to do, but man, I am sitting here enjoying the crap out of it. I love an awesome BUILD and fab skills!

This guy used FJZ-80 axles and transmission in his 3rd gen. I just thought this might give you an idea. I haven't read through the whole thing yet.

Since the 5th have all the fancy traction control, crawl control, there is a lot more riding on getting the electronics to work in sync. This is the part several of us are watching to see how they bring that aspect all together. In a 3rd gen, it would be much simpler, and quite cool. Many years ago, I put one under a '92 Hilux with OTT highsteer.

That's why I'm watching this one too I want to see how the electronics get tied in. Someone just mentioned FJ80 axles so I thought I'd show them a thread where someone put them in a 4Runner even though it wasn't a 5th gen. I've got a waggy D44 housing with 4.88s sitting in my garage waiting for more money to be spent on it.

Bawlz, that's what you have! Big ones! Hats off to you sir, for SASing a 5th gen. Now I want one!!!!! Those Currie 9" housings are awesome! Love me a Ford 9". In my opinion, one of the best axles ever built (aside from the Corporate 14 bolt). I've used nothing but Ford 9" in all my street cars.
