Hey Dax,

I was going to call you today to respond to your message but you answered my question with this post, i.e. the date.

My wife just called two minutes before I checked here and said we have to go to a Bar Mitzvah in north Jersey on that date. Damn, I'm bummed. And I hate going to North Jersey!!

Since that's like 10 min from my house I'll be there, as long as I'm not doing some last minute work on my truck getting ready for Big Dogs the following weekend.

I might make an effort, but knowing me I won't end up driving that far and will end up being busy anyways. I would loved to see what people have done to their cars as I'm always looking into making more cool modifications while keeping things looking clean.

At least you're honest but COME ON, GET OUT THERE :)

Ok, from above
4Runner with the highest/lowest lift, 4Runner with the most MODs, ...

Lowest lift (isn't that like military intelligence and jumbo shrimp), do you mean lowered "street" trucks that sit 1/2" above the ground and bounce around when they run over a cigarette butt??

And most MODs, how do you define a "mod" (ie, modification) ?
Tinted windows, louder stereo, extra lights, XM radio, custom floor mats ??
Or actual, useful (on a 4WD truck) things like skid plates, winch bumpers, and the like ?

I mean, it sorta sounds like a meet for the the coffee can muffler, lowered, Honda ricer crowd rather than a group of 4WD vehicle owners.

Just looking for some clarity.

Unfortunately there is only so much info one can cram on a flyer without running out of room or going into TMI for most people.

The main purpose of this event is to come and meet fellow T4R members hang out and have a good time. The secondary part of this event will be to form a panel at the meet and have them go around looking at the trucks (any generation) and they will decide via concensus which vehicle gets the special recognition as per the categories mentioned on the flyer. This event is not ment to favor low riders or high riders, but to encourage owners to have fun modifying their trucks to their liking.
This type of event is the first for alot of us, and with everyone's participation it will be one to remember and the first of many to come.
So please bring friends and relatives, we need unbiased people to participate on the panel :)

Dax...

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it that day...I run/coach/play in a co-ed touch football team in baltimore city, and our game that day is right smack dab in the middle of the day @ 2pm...Sorry about that...I can't wait to meet some of you local guys, b/c I see a ton of 4Runner's but no T4R.ORG stickers...

On another note, I bought the replacement bulbs for my LCD Climate Control Unit in my center console from Russell Toyota for a total of $8, and I'm going to open the dash and replace the bulbs, myself, instead of paying the Stealership (Brown's Toyota) at total of $180 with labor to replace one bulb...I'll be sure to take pics and post a thread...I just have to find time to do it!

Take it easy...

I think there is a little wiggle room in terms of the award catagories- we can always do something like best overall, best "off road" set-up, best "road only" set up, best modifications, etc. As Dax said, the whole point of the day is to come on out and have some fun with some 4Runner owners. It will be a good day to kick back and have a great time.

Schedule looks clear for me on this so I'll be there...

Doh, never mind. Put me down for maybe :(
Things may change as the date gets closer so hopefully I'll be able to attend.

Fliers

I handed out about 20 fliers this past saturday just driving around the mall in columbia. You should see the amount of 4runners. I know that most of them are most likely soccer mom's but one has to "keep on keeping on" promoting the event. I modified somewhat the lingo on the flier to be a bit more general. If you are handing out fliers feel free to create your own. Even if you are not coming I ask that you drum up interest in your area.

Any way I'll continue dropping fliers in and around the Columbia Area. If any of you live down town baltimore, drive down next saturday around Canton and fellspoint, this past saturday i saw many cool looking 4runners parked all around Canton.

Later

Hey mike, I saw the photos of the kick ball teams on the link you have, it looks like alot of fun. Where do you hold the actual games? I see lots of before and after the game photos.

hey dax...

it's a ton of fun...i actually help run the league...we have permits for fields in federal hill/south baltimore (riverside/latrobe parks) and there's a seperate league in canton (patterson park)...we have over 130 teams between both leagues, and we average around 20 people per team...people travel from as far as DC to play in our league...the league is sponsored by coors light, which makes it possible for our sponsor bars (Federal Hill/South Baltimore: Mother's, Ropewalk, Magerk's, and Truman's & in Canton/Fells Point: Pickled Parrot, JD's Smokehouse, and Shucker's) to sell $1.50 coors light bottles and $2 blue moon bottles every game night...we have games on wednesday and thursday nights at both locations! to tell you the truth, the average age is anywhere between 28 to 30...we have alot of company teams playing in the league...the funny thing is that my wife and i have seperate teams! our spring season has already started, but if you or any friends are interested in the future, we can always throw you all on a team together, if you didn't have enough for an entire team...the other league that i play in is a co-ed two hand touch football league: www.sobosports.com - that's a saturday league...

take it easy...

Awesome!

The meet is gathering momentum, other guys from YotaTech are also coming to the meet.

It is going to be lots of fun.

in the meantime, I continue to hand out flyers to 4runners I see in parking lots. Expect attendees to ask questions about your MODS/Off road capabilities/ gas milage and so on.

The dealeship that is going to come and display a fully loaded 2006 runner said that they might bring the New FJ cruiser. But it all depends, since they can't keep them on the lot long enough.

I am looking forward to this event.

ohh, if any one here wants to bring a laptop so that we can display some off roading pictures with stock runners, please PM me so that I can make a disk to play in a slide show for people to see. If you belong to an off road club and have pictures of offroading runners also bring a CD with the pictures.

Thank you

Dax

I work Sat mornigs but I will give it a shot seems like you put much work into this Dax. Hats off to you.

I guess I have to go clean up the 4Runner now.
