ok so i mean no offense by this at all and am totally 100% sincere when i ask this... but how does a deaf person go about picking a song? -and im not trashing on the song you picked -to each their own and i probably have the larges range of musical tastes of anyone i know (eminem to enya...).
and how do you diagnose or come to find out that you have an issue with your truck... i give you kudos like crazy for being able to keep up on maintenance and fix problems, for me sound is a huge thing, i can hear a problem most of the time before its a big issue
some times i wish i was deaf so i wouldnt hear my wife nag at me about spending so much time and money on my runner...
No worries man, I don't mind talking about my deafness. I was born with 80% loss in both ears, has progressed to 90% now overtime (student now)... I wear powerful hearing aids and rely very heavily on lipreading... See, I can hear people talking, but I can't comprehend what they are saying - it would be like listening to a foreign language that you don't know, see?
So I can hear music with my hearing aids, but I don't understand the words unless I look them up. I like classical music a lot for that reason. and I do have weird musical tastes haha.
I can hear this song and I like it (deaf people LOVE beat/bass), but due to being deaf, I miss a LOT of stuff, like cultural things or things in conversations or whatever, so I'm not "tuned" into a lot of things... So if this song has a reputation for being "weird" somehow or whatever (i.e. connotations of things), I wouldn't really know about it for a number of reasons (deaf, not in touch with popular culture due to homeschool)- so hence the warning that the song isn't matched well...
As for diagnosing problems, I don't really hear it... I can hear when I'm driving on a flat tire (did that once in my car) but that was pretty loud... I tend to go by how the truck feels (I like how I can directly feel the drivetrain in my 4WD shifter in the 4Runner or I noticed when I broke a rear shock when off road) or the RPMs gauge or the dash lights... I'm very attentive with my eyes, so that helps... I just try to do things on schedule and such...
You hearing guys are lucky that you can hear a problem before it happens, that's not the case for me, like you said... One lives and learns, I guess. I just try to take things into stride.

amazing what hearing people can hear...Be thankful for it all the time!
Though I hear ya on the nagging - any time I want a quiet day, I just take out my hearing aids and I can't hear a thing. I sleep soundly at night!

EDIT: For reference of how deaf I am, I have an aftermarket stereo with an Aux port - so I plug my Zune in there... I can turn up the Zune, the stereo, AND the subwoofer ALL the way up and it doesn't hurt my ears... It's pretty loud but I love it! (now I don't do that much, just because I drive in the country a lot and sound carries a long way around here.
