T4R Outing -- The Cove -- November 2-4, 2018

Hello all,

Sorry for the late notice, but this outing has been a little up in the air this year. Admittedly, I'm stealing most of Cory's post from last year on the details, but Ryan [MENTION=165403]afiremensrunner4[/MENTION], has confirmed with me that The Cove is offering the same rates. It is a little later this year because apparently October was booked.

Please note that Ryan is doing the heavy lifting on getting this organized, but due to the pending Hurricane, he may be hard to reach while he aids in the potential disaster areas. I will do my best to convey any questions to him and update the thread as needed.

Weather Forecast

* Arrive early Friday Morning 11/02/2018 and leave early Monday morning 11/04/2018 or anytime during that time-frame. (Most folks come in on Friday or Saturday and leave Sunday Morning.)

* $17 each person per night.

* $25 per vehicle "Trail Use" fee.

* $10 per day rifle range fee (only if/when you plan to shoot)

*Saturday night cookout/Pot Luck dinner (I don't know if Ryan is in touch Shawn from GT Peace as they have historically been an awesome grill team too)

I've seen photos from past years and people seem to love this event but I've never been able to make it. Might finally be able to make it this year, but my new 5th gen won't be fully lifted and stuff by November!

I've seen photos from past years and people seem to love this event but I've never been able to make it. Might finally be able to make it this year, but my new 5th gen won't be fully lifted and stuff by November!

You'd be surprised what a stock truck can do! Last year [MENTION=137555]Sleeter[/MENTION] headed up a group with a stock Trail Edition [MENTION=147513]gibburnz[/MENTION] and he did great! Only the very last leg of the day he pulled off with a couple others and went back to camp.

Oh I'm not worried about the capabilities of the stock truck! They are beasts!

I was just curious because I had seen some pics from past Cove outings and there seemed to be some gnarly terrain. Wasn't sure if that was the whole thing or not. But thanks for letting me know! I'll have to see if I can come down for the trip!

I’m in the same boat. I have a 2018 TRD ORP all stock. I’m an hour from the cove and usually go there to shoot. I would love to join but I’m still learning how to handle it properly. One of these days I will join you guys.

I will tell you though, my first cove trip was a few weeks after a 101 course at rausch Creek (my first time ever) -- in my wife's truck haha. We had sliders, fuel skid and spacer lift. Josh of Apex overland took our group on an "interesting" trail around the property. White knuckles most of the way, especially because my wife was passenger and worried about her truck.

Got finished up unscathed and amazed that we could do what we did. It was a blast, and I learned a lot. Especially that spotters that know what they're doing can make all the difference!

If we don't see you out there this year, hopefully the next!

Trails can be done stock just make sure you at least remove running boards before hand.

I did last last time with a stock trail and running boards. I didn’t go on the afternoon run so that one may have been a little tougher then the morning run.
