best of the west

after moab, i did some basic prep like another allignment, respray on certain parts that were beat up, trying to diag this stalling issue, and i installed some new kenda klever RT 37s instead of those pro comps. i also have been working on a milwaukee packout system so i can slowly remove my drawer setup.

i drive out 6 hours to montrose colorado and get some wheeling done with good friends, the 4runner did impeccable performance wise and i am in love with these kendas. i broke 4 CV axles, bent F/L ITR, F/R OTR, cracked my frame, scorched my F/L LBJ, bent a rear left lower link, and ive grenaded 3 of 4 LCA cam tabs. the IFS differential is holding well, as you guys know i am tired of this IFS, and i have plans that ive been keeping from you guys but we will burn that bridge when we cross it. i am doing the bare minimum to fix it so i can still offroad. anyways, this is my montrose colorado trip!


We did cactus, topless, scratch & dent, calamity & die tryin, these are all rated at 9+ trail, and i am beyond extatic on how well lucy did. the only place i had to winch was breaking a CV in a lame spot, and an inevitable waterfall that everyone had to winch up.

oh yeah, and ive canned the entire body with trail damage.. im a little upset but i keep trying to tell myself its what you get when doing 9+ trails :lalala:

on the way home i went to moab and do moab rim really quick which is when i bent my tie rods. i had to do a tape measure allignment and continue onward

nothing has changed, ive been saving money to do everything at once. i recently did a 1500 mile trip to oregon and back and it did great. i also visited the guys over at fitgarage in bend. awesome group of guys building cool LC's

another fun moab trip.. love being 3 hrs away from here
we did moab rim, behind the rocks, and rusty nail out&back after no left hand turn. everyone had great time doing all the hard lines! didnt get too many pictures this trip.

4th of july wheeling trip

i just got back from a 1,200 mile trip to colorado. we did holy cross, and wheeler lake and did a bit of mountain biking in the area. lucy did absolutely killer with no axles broke or any failures on trail. my rear diff drain almost came out on the drive home and was leaking significantly. i went to leadville after holy cross, and went up to mosquito pass to try to get down into alma for wheeler lake but i couldnt get pass a decent size snow section approx 200 yards. i plowed about 100 feet and turned around; it wasnt worth the risk being by myself. wheeler lake was very fun and headed home. anyways here are the pictures

there was about 9 of us trucks and then me total! on the way out, some of us decided to head to montrose and get a last minute trail in, which is a rated 9 trail. usually this takes us all day at BOTW, but theres also 15+ rigs trying to get through. there was just 3 of us so we head into the beginning of the trail at 4:00

shes eating!! buggy trails in full body IFS SUV for the win!

approx 6:00. "CV". approx 6:15. "turn your front locker on"
i broke both my passenger side CV axle and my ADD shaft (again..) at the same exact time. im now in a buggy trail with boulders up to my sliders in every direction and were only half way through this trail and still need to go uphill and out.

approx 7:30 "CV" noah broke a CV in his tacoma on 40s.
approv 9:00 PM, its now time to go uphill after strategically driving with only 3wd. we wouldve turned me around and head down trail, but this is very narrow canyon trails. theres nowhere to turn around.

approx 3:00 AM truck is strategically moved about 60 feet, and winched to a tree with 2 tires on the truck, and we get ryan and noah out. we go to our friends shop to cut and weld a new link up out of .120X1.75" DOM and headed back to get me at 6AM


we finally get up and after 7 hours of grousome winching me up huge 40"+ boulders with pinches, very steep and loose, etc (now my front locker or something was malfunctioning at this time) ryan breaks a CV after trying to get back up all this.

what a pain... but were out and i was able to get back home after a 7 hour drive to salt lake. i wish i trailered this thing at times! ready to come back to montrose ASAP. even this was the worst breakage at once ive had and i had to leave the truck overnight, these trails are without a doubt my absolute favorites.

walked entire nasty half, and did every optional on the fallen (including the Z turn!) minus the very last canyon optional. NO BREAKS THIS WEEK! could not be any more happy on the performance of the 4runner this weekend. im in absolute love with these kenda r/t's without a single doubt

I broke a mirror, and got body damage. my driver side now looks like a bob ross painting. any technical seat time is good seat time in my eyes, body damage is apart of what im doing now these days.

Nothing insanely new. I did another wheeling trip and roached my ring so i had to do another rear diff rebuild. i now have yukon gears and they are definitely a little louder than the trailgear ones. i also installed new uniballs. havent been doing too much

well, the 4runner is officially gone....it was EASILY the best vehicle ive purchased hands down, it was just time to move on and build something larger, and better.. my new thread is now over here..
