Thanks, Ya, Its been a long-time coming! This is actually my 4th Toyota 4Runner!! It all began with a 1994 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 with a 3.SLO! Then I bought my xwife an 06 Sport and about 3 weeks later i sold my 94 and bought a 02 Sport. I bought my first lift from Toytec, it was the best seller lift with Toytec's front spacers and OME 890s in the rear with the diff drop and panhard drop i had 285/75/16 Duratracs on it. I loved that 4Runner it did NOT have the Elocker but had the Center Diff locker, which was kinda cool to have. BUT.. Then i kinda started going through a divorce and the 4Runner was in here name...well LOOOONG story short 2 weeks after i gave her 3 gs to make payments, i had a court date for speeding and while i was in court she came and took the 4Runner while i was in the courthouse and sold it!!! I bought this 4Runner in March of 2011. I wished i would had started my build thread then...because i honestly started changing things on this 4Runner withing the first couple HOURS that i owned it!

Took my fiancee and kiddos out for a lil ride....before i got the lift put on...



I broke the drivers side rear shock...it was a factory shock, old and rusted pretty bad. Got some DERN good flex outta it though! LOL...I replaced them temporarily with some Monroe shocks from Advance. Didnt want to put alot of money in it at the time...because i knew i was going to buy my lift SOON!!

Pic of me in Iraq with my first SUV. LOL, when I came home from Iraq I had to be UP in the air!! Could NOT ride around in a lil compact car anymore...This was my 1st gun truck in Iraq, we were blown up by an IED a few weeks after this pic. I had 2 other gun trucks while I was there. This one was my Favorite! BEST AIR CONDITIONER! AND IT HAD A BRAND NEW TURBO!!


Pic of my PolyPerformance Sway bar bushings and you can also see the PolyPerformance power steering bushings from Toytec. This has been my favorite Upgrade. My 4Runner handles better than ever now!

I had a problem with my brakes and ended up having to replace my master cylinder. Funny thing, the people who owned the vehicle before me decided to put a paper water pump gasket inbetween the MC and booster....rA****s!

My rear control arms bushing were destroyed so I went to a local junkyard and picked up a set for 35 bucks a piece...jacked up the runner threw them under it AND WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! My 4Runner rides 100*s better now...then today i replaced the my power steering bushings with some PolyPerformance sway bar bushings from Toytec, BIG BIG BIG difference. I can actually turn my wheel a half inch and TURN!!

Truck looks great. I like the lift setup you have. Have hard was it to do the steering rack bushings? I heard it can be a PITA so I have been hesitant but I heard that once its done the difference is great. :zoom:

Thanks man....this build thread should havebe been done a long tim ago. Wishd i wouldhave have kept it inI order...but oh well....i have 2 kids lol! The sway bar bushing brackets are from the Energy Suspension universal kit I bought from Advance, they have a grease fitting on them. The ones that were on my 4Runner were destroyed and rusted in pretty bad...long story short they didn't survive my sledge hammer and pb blaster lol.

She was a crazy one to say the least!! Move on is exactly right....I have a great fiancee now she has helped me through alot. This 4Runner has been difficult at times, but all in all I like it better than my 02. More because I have built it, instead of paying someone to do it. I have never really worked on vehicles before so its a slow process...plus I bought this 4Runner. Out of cleveland Ohio. It had not been molested but had been abused. RUST everywhere.....I have cleaned & sanded just about everything so far....everytime I change something on it I spend more time cleaning than wrenching...but I have learned alot over the last 11 months, I have to say that t4r.org has helped me out greatly...they truely are some great writ-ups/build threads here. One day I hope my rig is as nice as some of these other rigs on t4r. Thanks for checking out my build.

Thanks...it is an escape for sure! Sometimes, to long like when I can't break a rusted nut loose...been stuck in garage for 3the days because of Ubjs, well worth every minute because my ride improves. The color scheme is something I am still working with, when mt wallet let's me I plan on getting front and rear custom bumpers and powder coat them black, then rocksliders and paint the limited flares black. the paint on my 4Runner 8is in need of some love and wax and or claybars are not helping so hopefully a paint job one day....but just working with it right now.

Nice truck man! I've had my 4Runner for 8 years now.... still love this truck! I recently bought an 05 Tacoma DCLB, but prefer to drive the 4Runner! lol!

Thanks man, I have been a on this website for a few years now and have watched alot of vehicles here come a VERY long way. Your 4Runner was one of the first i would always look at!! Very nice 4Runner you have, and for the Tacoma! Have fun with that one! I bought one of those about 5 years ago, when i was married and took it home, when i got there it didnt fit in the garage it was a little to LONG because of the dbl cab and we had used some of the garage for a laundry area. Sooo, the next day i drove it back to the Toyota dealership, they where pretty cool guys and just return it and get the 02 4Runner Sport i had. Got lucky then, but i have always loved the Tacomas, just never been in my cards for me to be able to have one...its cool though i dig my 4Runner! I have put alot of work into this 4Runner, i am not much of a mechanic so i just kinda started replacing things after I put my lift on. The way i looked at it was it has 265k on it, the person who owned it before me abused it pretty bad, so i brought it back to life. It drives and handles better than EVER, i just recently changed my Lower rear control arms and i also put in a steering rack bushing kit i got from Toytec, what a difference. Thanks for checking out my rig.

I am thinking about getting a front bumper from an older model 96-98, but dont know if it will bolt up without any mods????
