so i thought i would have to cut the front part of my grille to fit with the winch, but instead i grinded off the tabs, and zip tie it, and it just fits in there.

upgraded my tie downs on the rear platform. had these d-rings on there, always coming loose, not very solid, for these adjustable rails.

Very nice 4Runner. I'll sub here. What brand is that hitch you are running? I removed mine, but I was gonna either flip it, or have it welded between the frame rails for more clearance. I'll probably give in and get a rear bumper someday, but until then I don't wanna drag it on everything.

thank you. hitch is a Curt round tube. they had 2 options, square and round.

if i were building just a 4x4 rig (not for overland travel) i would probably go with a rear bumper too, but since i have a front bumper and winch, trying not to add too much unnecessary weight. that is why i went with a hitch mounted tire carrier.

First update of the new year, 4runner hasn't moved for almost a month. my airbox formed a big crack in it near one of the mounting points. decided to clean my throttle body and MAF sensor. i picked up an airbox from a '98 4runner, although the MAF sensor is a little different, thought i could make it work. turned out to be a waste. the engine didn't like it eventually bought a new airbox (not oem) and then i put in an Airraid intake tube to clean the engine bay up.

when i had everything off, i decided to add a clothes hanger to the inside of the elbow for the snorkel.

CBI hitch mounted tire carrier

i opted not to get the pass-through hitch mount, so it could be mounted closer to the body and with plans to add a hook or some recovery point to my hitch.

came with all these nuts/bolts, but no instructions as to where they go. after contacting them about it they emailed instructions for an older version of the carrier.

a little disappointed, not in the quality of it, but other things. seems to be missing some hardware, no instructions, have left over hardware, no clue where they go, no room to mount a rotopax (i was looking forward to this, then realized maybe because i opted for the non pass-through hitch...i can live with that), my tire is only one size up from factory and there doesn't seem to be any room to mount the hi-lift, might have to play around with it more, maybe air down too. i also had to drill my own hole to mount it to the hitch, hole they had did not line up.

What are your thoughts of the airaid pipe with the stock air box? Any noticeable difference in power or mpg? I've been thinking of getting one but don't want to spend the money if it doesn't actually do anything. I read a few reviews on amazon where people said the airaid pipe with stock air box made the biggest difference on Dino of all the aftermarket intakes. But they didn't show any numbers. Any truth to those claims?

i didn't really buy it for performance gains, really just to clean the engine up, but i drove it to work today and noticed the engine felt smoother with more power. but what i can't tell you is if it was from cleaning the throttle body or the Airaid, since i did them the same time.

after playing around some more, was able to get the hi-lift mounted to the tire carrier; only draw-back have to remove the tire 1st to install/remove the jack.

i am actually really considering a rear bumper/swing-out now. i'm only interested in the Savage one, currently out of stock. i don't need it right away though. possibly have a local build one, if he can do it cheaper.
