Did anybody else see this about Tacomas and hope that it also applied to 4Runners from the same years? A commenter inquired about it and was informed, "The Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Tacoma are built at different plants (Tacoma is built in Northern California, 4Runner is built in Japan), and have different suppliers for the frame. Therefore, this condition may be present only in the Toyota Tacoma vehicles."

Only applies to Tacoma's (95.5 - 00). No known issues with 4Runners (they have a fully boxed frame, as opposed to Tacoma's with open C channel frames from the bed back).

Why? Do you have problems with rust eating away your frame? Tacoma owners have reported that their frames now look like swiss cheese (they can actually see through the frame itself :awais: )

Kind of a bummer that Toyota decided not to produce fully boxed frames when the Tacoma's first came out in 95. All of the Toyota Pick Ups before that had fully boxed frames. Hilux's overseas still have fully boxed frames. Once again, US gets jipped.

Check out what happened to this guy
