So I've had my 2012 LE for 5-6 weeks maybe and absolutely love it!! In fact I think I love it so much that I may trade in my 11 Sierra for a Tacoma. I must have a truck also. Anyone think I'd miss the interior space of the gmc? I know I won't miss the 12mpg.

Yes I know this is the 5th gen 4RUNNER forum but I'm posting this here because there is tons of geniuses here!

Without knowing your situation we cannot answer that.

I, for one, could not deal with the lack of space in a DC Tacoma. I have a 3.5yr old and she alone fills my second row of the 4R. Even being shorter @ 5'7" the truck felt cramped. Get a Tundra and get 15mpg and still come out ahead.
 
Friend of mine at work made that switch and hates the Tacoma for that exact reason.

That's his only vehicle though (Fiance has an FJ which he loves). I guess it depends on how much time you will be in there.

Take a looooong test drive! The Taco's are awesome trucks- I almost got one....
 
True. I'm 5'10". I have two girls 6 and 3 1/2. The 4R is the family mover. I own a lawn and landscape company so I have other heavy trucks for large loads or pulling. I use my my truck for running around meeting clients and at times running extra small supplies to jobs.

I owned a 2010 tundra crew and liked it. Not loved. Traded it in with 23k miles on it ONLY because a friend of mine bought a gmc/ford/dodge dealership and basically gave it to me.

Not after you replace the front shocks, put in a leaf pack, and throw on some new tires. Lot of people said that about the 4Runner before replacing the shocks and tires too. ;)

Personally, I was so close to buying a Taco but I needed guaranteed weatherproof rear storage and I got a pretty smoking deal on my 4Runner. I say drive the Sierra down to a Toyota dealership then test the Taco and Tundra back to back. That way you'll be comparing all three pickups directly.

Ya, stock to stock the 4R was 10x better IMO. I had a TRD for about a week while I made my decision (I know the owner of the Toyota dealer out here). The ride on it was way too rough. If I ever bought one, it would be on OME really quick.
 
Ya I guess I'll go drive one. Never have! Im just getting tired of the 12mpg and I drive at least 100-150 miles in two days. Since we bought the 4r my truck sits alot more(hasn't moved since sat night) wife works 3 nights a week so I get the 4r all to myself most of the week! Traded in a 09 Yukon Denali for the 4r. That 6.2 was a gas hog.

Ahhh tapatalk doesn't display signatures my bee. If you lift the Tacoma you're back in the same boat with a smaller less capable truck...so if you want a Toyota truck you should get the Tundra IMO
 
What about the 2013 Tacoma TRD T/X Baja series?

From what i can see, it just seems like a more expensive suspension upgrade.
 
I know the lift and tires don't help the mpg. And I don't care about fuel costs either but dang when I drive the 4r and I'm seeing 19.8 mpg around town my wheels start turning and I start think about what I could do with the savings lol. More guns? Also I'd like to wheel a little and my truck is to long for most trails. 4 door reg bed 1500.

Odd. I find the ride with my OME lift on my 4runner to be SIGNIFICANTLY harsher and bouncier.
