tail pipe fell off!

Looking around undercarriage....still learning my truck..... the freaking tailpipe is disconnected from muffler and it doesn't have anyrhing to clamp to.

Do i have to get a dealer muffler or can i get a napa muffler. I want stock exhaust . No rumbly

And can i reuse whats left of the tailpipe?

Reason i ask is the napa muffler looks very different from the factory muffler

So if I understand you correctly the flange that connects the muffler to the tail section (part that exit out the back) has rusted off at the flange on the muffler side. I say this as I rotated tires over the weekend and noted how rusty mine was as it looks like the muffler section is made of carbon steel and the after section is made of a low grade SS. An aftermarket OEM replacement section should bolt up without issue unless the NAPA books says different (sometimes they do). Just clarify with the parts guy (hopefully they have a brain but most NAPA guys are decent compared to the other low cost suppliers) and be done with it.

If you are handy you could measure the pipe and see if there is a band clamp that would work. You cut off the flange on the tail section and install one of these. It's worked on 2 subarus for me in the past and got me a few more years before needing replacement.

If you are talking about the rear 'can' of the exhaust system (in the right rear of the vehicle), that is not the muffler. It is the resonator. The mufler is located under the passenger side seats. If the tail pipe separated (broke loose) from the resonator because of rust, it will be difficult to repair without welding, and even that may not work. The rear part of the exhaust system connects to the muffler part via a flange connection just in front of the rear axle. And you can get an aftemarket replacement part for about $100.00 if you shop around, and the installation isn't too bad if you are at all mechanically proficient.
