Tailgate issues

A few months ago I had my rear window motor replaced. At first I was able to open the tailgate but recently it won't unlatch. The window goes up and down fine but when I pull the handle, the handle moves but nothing happens. The drivers side does not seem to be completely latched. I opened up the tailgate and it looked like the cable to the drivers side was being pinched by the window gears. I moved the cable out of the way but still can't get it to open. The handle moves the latch mechanism in the middle but the cables are either stretched or latches are binding up. Any suggestions?

I will try to take some pictures tomorrow and add them.

I am having a similar issue with my tailgate. The safety is engaged with no window travel issues. My issue is that the cables move freely but the passenger side latch at is not tripping when the cable is pulled nor will it trip when I pull the lever that the cable is attached to.

I'll tinker with it this weekend after I replace the 5 speed that I shelled last Monday (broken countershaft :yuck

I finally got a chance to take some pictures of my tailgate. The driver's side is not latching properly and the passenger side won't unlatch. I tripped the latches with the tailgate down and when i pulled the handle, the driver's side opened and the passenger side did not. The cable leading to the driver's side latch was not in the clip between the middle and side of the tailgate. I put it back in the clip but it didn't help. It looks like the cable to the driver's side got caught on the gear that lowers the window and the cable end on the center mechanism doesn't look right.
