Hello folks. This post is for experts that have tackled tailgate window/regulator jobs. Searched but could not find what I’m after. Rear window had fallen into tailgate. Took apart tailgate window from regulator and came to find out that rust had gotten the better of the nuts found in the plastic bits found “glued” to the bottom of the the tailgate window. All 6 nuts had managed to “fall out” of their seats within the plastic pieces.
I managed to loosen 3 out of 6 bolt/nut pairs and the other 3 are corroded too badly to separate. I have attached relevant pics.
My question is: Can I source new nuts and reuse the 2 plastic bits “glued” to the bottom of the tailgate window?
The 6 nuts were originally moulded and fixed in the plastic. Should I attempt to use automotive window adhesive to hopefully get the new nuts to seat permanently into the 2 plastic pieces?
Thanks to Josh from this forum group I have a new to me regulator that I plan on swapping over. The original had some parts that were badly corroded to the point of causing the window to fall off the rails and into the tailgate hatch.
