This cold weather and snow is making it a real PITA to get these HIDs done.....I ended up driving around all weekend in the snow storm without headlights! Good thing I had the PIAAs installed

I bought a set of Depot brand glass headlights so I could take my time and get the conversion done. It was the best mod I did on my old 3rd gen. You'll really enjoy it.

Why don't you drive over to me and we'll do it in the garage where it's warmer. A retrofit should take no more than a day. I've gotta do work on my headlights too.

This seems to be going around. I feel like the someone should buy a donor set of headlights that we pass around to use temporarily while people are actually doing their retrofit. I mean, I don't care anymore since mine is done, but it seems like a good idea.
On a side note, make sure you when you're baking them, you get the oven up to temp and then turn it OFF. I torched my corners due to forgetting this one little piece...
What shrouds are you going with? Halos or anything in the DRL vents?

I did grind the tabs on the back end down all the way. I wanted the washer to sit flush against the back housing, so I am going to place the lights inside the housing, get them aligned, mark the holes I will need to drill, get the lights all set up and mounted to the housing, and then probably use a little jbweld on the back to keep the metal tab in place.

A little progress today thanks to the nice weather!! Got them painted, and they look pretty damn nice...I used rustoleum self etching primer (2coats), rustoleum satin black(3 coats), and then finish with rustoleum clear coat (2coats)....I held them up in the sun after they were dry to the touch and the satin finish is very nice.

Ok I need some help guys, I'm in the middle of trying to get the shrouds cut to fit the housing, but I'm at a roadblock....I finally cut the bottom of the shrouds enough to the point where it can make it over the projector properly. However, there's quite a large gap between the end of the shroud and headlight housing....can anyone give me advice? I wanna get these bad boys finished today but I'm lost...here's some pics

What is the problem? Shrouds do not need to touch the back of the light housing. A gap is fine.
If you have light leakage you can use metal tape to seal it up.

Your shroud are fine, that's just how shrouds fit on the threaded projectors.
The only thing you can do to make it sit flush is cut the back of the headlight housing out and mount the projector using bolts in the 4 holes on the projector.
However, if you're going to do that you may as well buy a better projector.
Also- Instead of grinding the alignment tabs flat I grind them to where they're flushed with the alignment washer. Then I place a washer that I had my local Tacoma Screw make (I am sure you can order them online for cheaper) over the alignment washer, and THEN I use the big nut to tighten everything down.
With your approach you'll be able to get a perfect cutoff line, but it's going to take quite a bit longer...
