Take white wax off black trim

I spilled a blotch of wax the last time I waxed on the running board and now I have this nice white spot. Any ideas how to get rid of it? Scrubbing does not work.

I was wondering the same thing. I get pretty aggressive when I wax my 4R and there are smudges of was on the trim around the windows that I can't get off.

Scrub with dawn work? That should remove all wax.

The problem is the textured surface of the plastic...the wax gets down into the texture.

What I found to be effective is let the wax dry and then use a good stiff bristle toothbrush (or equivalent). That's what I use when I get wax on the splash guards. The bristles will get down into the textured surface of the plastic.

There's a product called 'Back to Black.' Can't remember who makes it off the top of my head. It works wonders and takes black trim, rubber and what not back to black and removes the wax residue.

I've used that with not so great results. It only covers the wax, doesn't remove it.
The tootbrush works good but it will take some elbow grease to get it out.

i use Mothers Back to Black for my fenders, Plastic plastic bumper, and claddings. and because i have the early 2003 unpainted, spilled wax is really a problem.

i applied paint thinner in the area with dried wax using a tooth brush, leave it for 20 mins, then brush and wipe using the tooth brush. since the thinner retains odor and probably bad for plastics esp its flamable, i'll wash it thoroughly with dish washing soap and water.

then I'll apply Mothers Back to Black. :driving:

I've seen some posts on other boards suggesting the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser does a good job as well. I've got one here, but haven't tried it myself yet.

i used to use this stuff and it works great to remove plus kind of adds a barrier so you cant get the wax on it again

since its only on the plastic running board, try lacquer thinner, that takes just about anything off, so be careful.

Urine looking stuff-apply sparingly-sounds like you should apply with a toothbrush to get the texture....

I use Goo gone then i wipe it dry with a cloth followed by Meguiar's Interior Detailer.

Good choice, that's exactly what I did to make my running boards look like new as well. Not to derail the thread, but did your paint flake off occasionally if your shoe scraped across the surface or something?
