I gotta go to OZ for a few months so i am going to put back on the fibreglass top and store the softopper.

Do i need to completely 'unistall it' ? Can i leave most of it on (rubber parts, etc ) ....will the top squeeze on and be waterproof ?

Cheers..

Say hi to the tin man and the scare-a-crow for me :)

You should remove all the soft top components. In the next few weeks I'll be moving to Colorado and I'll be doing this. I will remove all soft top components and re-install my hard top for the move. I think it makes more sense, at least this way you know everything will seal properly.

a little trick i learned for water sealing when i was on deployment was to get some petroleum jelly and put a thick layer on the gasket before you put the top on once it seals it will stay that way until you take it off its easy to clean and keep the water out.

Nice... I think the only reason mine was chosen is because I have build thread that is usually on one of the first two pages of the classics section. There are more first gen runners that are in way better shape and more capable than mine. Either way I build mine when I can and do the best that I can. It's a fun hobby to say the least.
