Taking off stripes on side of truck

Have any of you pealed off the stripes on the side of the truck? If so what did you use to do the job and how did it look afterwords? The ones on mine were not taken care of, and they look black.

Phew, you're talking about the little stripes on 2nd gens. I was about to bash you for committing the most unholy of crimes -- taking the sweet graphics off a 1st gen.

Smart move getting rid of those dopey stripes! They fade and crack, then end up looking like crap. First thing I did when I got my '85 Hi-Lux. Use the rubber wheel, then use 3M bug-n-tar remover to get rid of any adhesive residue.

Thanks guys. I went to the local auto parts store and they didn't have the rubber wheel. So I spent 4 hours today using a blow dryer and my fingers. I got about 3/4 of the back half on both sides. I was able to get the two smallest ones off in one piece and a couple inches from a couple big ones, but that was about as good as it got. The rest that I was able t get came off at about a MM at a time. I will be back it it in the next couple days to try and get the rest.

So I spent 4 hours today using a blow dryer and my fingers. I got about 3/4 of the back half on both sides.

I think I did the whole truck in about 45 min with that wheel. Used Goo gone to clean up the left over adhesive. I posted some pics on here somewhere.

I was watching a couple videos where they said they got the wheels for $13, but the ones I found on a quick google search were $40-$50. I wanted the wheel, but since they didn't have it locally I just went ahead and started without it since I didn't want to wait for it ship here. I didn't have anything else going on any way, so this helped me keep from getting bored.

I got the back half of the stripe off on one side. The other side still has a little left.

I bought a stripe off wheel today and got the rest off real fast. Do you think the left over residue will come off with a buffer and some compound? I tried an off brand of Goo gone, but there is still some left.

I used goo gone. There wasn't that much residue left when i got done. I would strip the decal then wipe it off and then hit the residue spots again with the wheel. After that I wiped the areas down with goo gone.

Just hit those spots with the wheel again. That's all we do at the body shop I work at. Then take a microfiber and some quick detailer and call it a day!
