Tampa Area Off Road Trip

You aren't too far from me then. I am right next to the strawberry festival grounds. I oddly enough have to replace mine passenger seal too, I did the drivers side a month or two ago which was leaking enough to leave a spot on the drive way. The passenger side is just a drip or two a day. I figured why not tear up the one that is in there then replace it after the trip. :gun6:
This is, as long as i have been a member, the first big off road trip for Florida T4R members. We had a meet and greet last year sometime at the 5 Guys by the Florida State Fairgrounds and had a decent turn out, 8 or 9 guys. I would like to see trips like this a couple times a year. I cannot do that often because, well, I have a wife and kiddo at home! :bolt:

How old is your kid? I have a 2 year old girl who loves when we get muddy. I also got my fiancé into camping and offroading. No chance your wife would go with you?

Hey guys I'm sorry but I will be unable to make this trip because of something that just recently came up and there is not avoiding it. I hate that I will miss this trip because I was really looking forward to meeting all of you. Maybe we can have another meet soon and I should be able to attend with summer break around the corner.

I just wanted to reiterate the plan for Sunday to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Group Meet UP
As far as a meet up for everyone I say we try to meet up at the Pilot Travel Center right off 75 at around 9:45am then head out at little after 10am. Giving everyone a chance to get some more fuel for the trails and maybe a snack. I will say I would like to ride as long as I can, everyone is free to come and go as they please. But more than likely I will be heading out around 4ish to be home at a decent hour.

Southerners Initial Meet ( ride up together )
I am game to meet up at the rest stop and leave from there by no later than 8:30. For those who are not aware of where it is below is a link.

The rest stop is 80 miles from the Pilot Travel Center. I am not sure about you guys but I try to keep my speed down (65-70mph). If we leave on time would put us there around 9:45. If I am missing anyone for the southerners let me know and I will modify my post.

I purchased two walkie talkies and can give one out to help with some com at the park and on the way up. [MENTION=80120]WastedAccount[/MENTION] and [MENTION=122540]20vmki[/MENTION] have CB. Not sure if anyone else has anything else to contribute but lets get it documented ahead of time. I am going to PM everyone with my cell so we can text if need be Sunday morning. I know [MENTION=113219]shotgun_willie[/MENTION] has started this as well.
Food
I think the consensus is that most of us are cheap and don't wanna stop playing to leave for food. So pack a cooler with some water, or whatever you drink, and something to eat and snacks. But there are some fast food restaurants 2 minutes from the park near 75 if you want to do that as well, I am just unsure of how re-entry works; if you will have to pay the fee again.

I know once we are at the park we are all going to separate at some point but I would like to get some group shots ( we have to show those Cali boys we can get together too) :rockthrow:. I am going to bring my SLR and camera stand so we can try to get a couple group shots because :worthless:
Recovery
It looks like we will have shovels, winches, snatch straps and tools. We should be fairly prepared to get anyone unstuck. But lets wheel safely to make sure we don't break anything or get hurt. There is an auto part store just down the road from the park but lets try not to use it. I am sure they mostly stock parts for Jeeps. I say the first person to get stuck in the mud pit owes me a beer

I'll have a go pro mounted to my truck also, so I'll try to get some good shots of everyone while we're there. I do have 2 2-way radios, but I'll have one and my brother will have the other. We can all get on the same channel though. I'll have a cooler also, but if we get hungry, I think we'll head to one of the fast food joints and grab a bite real quick like! If anyone does want to camp, I've already called Hard Rock and have a camp site already, but I will call back and get more if needed.

Anthony - Big kudos for throwing this together and keeping it well organized. I seriously considered some recovery gear, but seems we may all be set from everyone else. I should have a couple 2-way radios I could share, just gotta find them! Stoked to meet everyone and get away from the pavement. :guitar3:
