Tapping in the high beam circuit for aux light

I know I'm way late into this string and forgive me for that but I've been trying to install a pair of LED fog lights on my daughter's 4Runner literally all night long because she's driving back home early to Florida in 4 hours. I've been at this since 9:30p last night and its now 5:30a so, I'm a bit fatigued but stumped.

I am trying to wire a pair of 5" 240W LED lights on her push bar going through a 12v 40A 5pin waterproof relay. When I first started, I had no idea her Runner was a negative switched high beam setup and that wasted some time. Researched and came across this forum string which, THANK YOU, has been very helpful. However... I've got a weird anomaly. I followed the instructions on the attached portion of the wiring suggesting but for some strange reason, the lights randomly turn on. The keys are out yet, click... On. If I turn the lights on, switch to low (off) they will turn off. I'll then turn the lights completely off via the headlight switch. But then again, at a random time but generally within a few seconds, they'll turn back on.

I just don't get it. Can't find a reason why. And I really really want my little girl to have good lighting on her drive from FtWorth back to Florida for my peace of mind.

What is going on?? Please help! I have 3.15 hours to figure this out.

The only difference in the wiring is that 85 is going to the negative pole for the high beams AT the light housing before the OEM plug that goes to the light bulb itself, also LED.

Need to know year and trim of your truck and if you have daytime running lights from the factory to help...

Just purchased a pair of these Hella driving lamps (Amazon.com: HELLA 005750941 500FF Series Driving Lamp Kit,6",clear: Automotive) which comes with plug and play wiring harness, switch and relay.

I want to have the lamps turned on when I turn my high beams on and also have the ability to use the included switch as a kill switch so that when the switch is off, the lamps remain off regardless of if the high beams are on or not. If the switch is on, the lamps turn on/off when I flip my high beams on/off. How would I wire this up to achieve this? This thread is pretty old and the image of the wiring diagram is blurred out. An updated diagram would be much appreciated.

I have a 1999 SR5 (Manual, V6, 4WD)

We need to know if you have the factory DRLs or not - the wiring is quite different between the two versions.

Likely you have a non-DRL truck, which means the instructions here in the thread should work.

The high beam filament of the headlight bulb is grounded (the common connection of the high and low beam gets power), so you can use that is the 'ground' side of the relay trigger. Then you run the rest of the wiring exactly how it is on the Hella wiring diagram.
