Tapping into 12 volt cigarette lighter

I'm installing an AFR gauge just underneath my cigarette lighter and it needs power and ground. I'm curious If I can tap into the 12 volt cigarette lighter wires. Isnt it already fused? The gauge calls for a 10 amp fuse. I dont want to run to the kick panel on the driver side since I already have a few add-a-fuse links in the fuse panel already.

That should work. For ground you can just tap into the metal frame of the car.
But just remember that some cigarette lighters are always on. So I don’t know if that’s going to be an issue for you.

Ill double check, but I thought it's only active when the key is turned to acc.

It should work just fine tapping in like that.

On these vehicles the power ports and cig lighter should not have power when the key is off.

If you have the power ports they might be a better choice as they are a dedicate source.

I used these cool spade connector splitter things to add a way to connect to that power. If someone was averse to cutting into the factory harness this is a great option.

Very cool, just buttoned mine up and everything works. Great idea, wish I would have seen this earlier. Ever since installing my 7th injector for the supercharger and having to tap into the factory wiring, it hasn't been so hard to do it now. I'd definitely go this route if I didnt want to cut up factory wiring.
