Hi guys,
I have, once again, some questions about an upgrade I'm planning to do soon. I want to do the TBU, preferably the 231s.
Let me say that there are many posts about this upgrade, most of them being very useful and very well documented. The thing is, I have the 16" Limited wheels and want to make sure that these will fit. I know the steel spare won't clear the new calipers, but I will replace the spare with a 16" Limited wheel.
The question is, can you tell me for sure that my wheels will clear the TBU 231s without any trimming, grinding, spacers, etc?
I read most of the posts on this subject here, and while I would say that they will, I still find conflicting information about it, with some people saying that you'll need to trim the wheel, or some other part such as the dust shield. If it's just that last one, I'll survive.
Also, can you confirm me that this is what I need, as far as parts go?
- NAPA Calipers CAL SE3263 & CAL SE3264
- Rotors x2 43512-0C011
- Shim Kit 04945-35120
- Brake Pads 04465-35290
- Valvoline Syn. Dot 4 Fluid
These calipers are the rebuilt Toyota ones, so I think that would be the best option besides brand new ones, which are too expensive.
I guess what I'm really wondering is if I need the brake line or not, here again, some say yes and some say no. Tough to know if the current one will be long enough.
I know these questions are probably a little annoying, but I wouldn't ask if I hadn't searched before, and I can't afford to screw up on that one.
