TBU on Split Spoke 16's.....

I just wanna clarify after reading Ripcord's post up top and just wanna make sure I understood correctly that the 231s will fit on the split spoke 16s but as he said just barely but it does fit. But NOT the spare.

Is it OK to run it like this as in so close to the rim & the caliper? Wanna pull the trigger on a set of calipers.
