TE seats.... very uncomfortable! Ouch!

I had the same issue coming from a Honda. Seems like the plastic lumbar support just hits me in the wrong spot. I have a long torso. Adjusting the seat is important, but I ended up getting some foam from an upholstery shop. The seat covers zip off. Takes some effort to squeeze the foam in there. That allowed me to put some support up slightly higher and now things are good. That is until someone drives my car and changes the adjustment. Seems like a tiny tweak is the difference between not noticing the seats at all and being miserable.

I just got my '16 TE Premium two months ago and it's so uncomfortable. It felt fine on the initial test drive, but even today, I drove for maybe a half hour, and my lower back was really in pain. I'm coming from a '14 VW Jetta Sportwagen and the seats in it are amazing compared to the 4R.

I've tried adjusting the seat and lumbar support in every way I can, and I still can't get it to feel good. It's a lease so it's making me worried I'm going to have to deal with it for the next 3 years...

You haven't worked with it enough. It's like pleasing a woman - takes some luck when you are learning and finesse afterwards.

The seats are firm (good once you get used to them) and once you get everything set up right you will be happy.

The lumbar is really critical. I found if I set it too far either way it didn't feel right, but once I found that one setting it was perfect.

:laugh: Fair enough. I'm sure it'll eventually get to a better point. Then knowing my luck, I'll bring it in for service, they'll change the seating position, and I'll be back at square one.

Old guy bad back 6'3' 175 & drive to Trinidad , Co. cpl times a year , stop for gas stretch no probs with adj lumbar ! Way better that son's 05 4r .:thumb: Different body types why [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] suggests a long test drive !!!!:cheers:

Hi guys, I have a 3 month old TE T4R which I absolutely love...... except for the seat comfort. The seats are very hard and are hurting my back. They are fine for a quick trip but on long highway rides my back starts to hurt after 20 minutes and I have to shuffle around in the seat to be comfortable.

Anyone have any aftermarket tips or mods to make the seats just a little more comfortable? Pads, replace the foam, covers????

I know the dealer can install heaters or leather (but I don't think that would help).

OP began this thread in 2012 and referenced his seats being very hard in his (2012) Trail Edition. I have owned a 2013 Trail Edition since it was new and concur that the seats are uncomfortably firm. I have also noticed that later model years (2014 and newer), the Trail Edition seats (softex included) are more padded. Adding Wet Okoles recently made my seats more comfortable.
