tell me your thoughts.....

spent nearly all day saturday washing and waxing, first I used dish soap to strip the wax, I noticed the dealer left some nasty finger prints under the wax, the soap didn't get them off, nor did the clay bar I used next. after clay bar still unhappy w/ some spots, so I used a rubbing compound to get the fingerprints off the paint, it worked nicely w/ some elbow grease, next I washed it w/ a wash only, then waxed w/ NXT 2.0 tech wax. it was ok, not as smoothe as I hoped, so washed again, and dryed w/ meguiars wax as you dry, came out ok, then used meguiars caranuba deep crystal wax, and that really set it off! it looks deeper, and seems smoother than the tech was alone, it looks great, and most importantly, the finger prints are gone! I have the natural white, so it's shiny, but white is a odd color to wax, it's my first white vehicle. I will post before and after shots shortly!

white is arguebly the hardest to make look better than it always is. It's tough to make it pop.

Did you do all the secondary and tertiary washing and mixture waxing on the fingerprint area only?

are you asking if I washed the areas after using the compound? the answer is yes, I was hesitant to use it, but at the same time, I'm OCD about my truck, and could not stand to see them, so I did it, or are you asking if I did the whole truck? the answer to that too is yes, wish I had before and after of fingerprints, but will post up pics soon, once I figure out how, i'm sure there is a thread about it.

Those must be some hardcore fingerprints. I had a couple hardcore smudges (road tar & dried out grease) on my 4R and i wiped them off with a damped rag with WD-40 and it was gone less than 10 minutes.

Honestly they were, not sure if it was a chemical from detailing or if the police finger printed the truck, and they waxed over it (almost exactly how it appeared) they were perfect black finger prints, sealed under wax, clay bar didn't even get them off. I don't know what to make of it, but they are gone now.
