I have a 00 4runner limited with the ATC that I am having some issues with. When I turn the temp knob it adjusts properly, from cold to hot, but the air coming out of the vents stays hot until I turn the "cold" mode, then the air cools off. Example- at 66 its hot, at 75 its hot, its cold only at "cold" setting. Im sure someone has had this trouble before, any info much appreciated!!

I just had it repaired, I was thinking that would take care of too it but no such luck!!Temp and fan adjust properly when turned its just the actual air coming from vents doesnt. I will def watch Johns video though!

Maybe the blend door actuator isn't operating properly.

If you go to section 236 of the EWD that will show the wiring diagrams for automatic climate control. Judging by the wiring diagram I would say you have a problem with the room temperature sensor, the wiring for that sensor, or the ac amplifier itself. From my understanding of the system the ac amplifier sees what temperature you have selected and what temperature the vehicle cabin is, and then calculates where the blend door should be. The exception to this is when you select full cold or full hot. I'll attach a picture from a 2000 FSM that shows where these components are located.
Thanks Bad Luck! I think you are on to something. I removed the servo motor that is moved when you adjust the temps, took it apart, cleaned and inspected and everything looked good. Re-installed and the unit is doing the same thing, so I will research these items you mentioned!
I think this is what you're looking for: 1999-2002 Toyota 4Runner Cabin Air Temperature Sensor 88790-35040 | Toyota Parts but it shows to be discontinued.
That's a little annoying but a lot cheaper than finding a replacement! I'm glad you got it figured out
