Temperature sending switch/sensor

Not tying to beat a dead horse here. I finally located the sensor area, what a royal pain in the ass. I only found it with my camera, I still have yet to see it with the naked eye. The sensor was unplugged when I had valve cover gaskets done, and it was never plugged back in.

With all that being said, and my pic isn't great....

The connector can be seen here, with no sensor. From other pics I've seen theres a wire/cable running out of the conector/harness. My pic doesn't seem to have that wire.

I know my questions may sound naive, but I've been trying to tackle this for months with no luck as its such a pain to locate.

From the pics I'll attach a lick to, the red circle is mine, the other with the attached wire is someone elses. If I don't have the wire, or can't locate it, do I ahve a bigger problem than I anticipated?

I cannot see whether it is a one wire or two in the wire plug. If it is one wire, then your temperature gauge will not function. If two wires, then temperature sensor wire sends a signal to ECU to switch to close loop giving proper air to fuel ratio. Without it, ECU thinks your vehicle is still cold and the idle might be bit high (maintaining the open loop). This happened to my 2000 LandCruiser. It had close to 1000 rpm even when the temp needle shows warm, I then replaced the temp sensor wire (two wires) and the idle dropped to 600.

The temp senor that the ecm uses is in the front of the motor and under the left side of the fuel rail crossover.

The other temp sensor/sender is for the temp gauge.
