Temporarily remove Predator steps

Has anyone ever thought to reinforce the Predator steps so they’d serve as capable sliders? I wouldn’t mind a step getting banged up, but if the body of these could be strengthened to act as a slider, that might be worth doing.
Any thoughts on that? My wife and youngest son like the steps, so something like that might be a win-win.
I’d like to hear what folks have to say…

Not really possible. The material they are made of, the location they are mounted, etc don't make sense for this.

You need a dedicated steel rock slider that bolts directly to the frame. There are plenty out there that also have a platform and look like running boards.

I have the RSG angled sliders with top plate and my wife and 5 year old have no huge problems. With the 2.5" lift, the angled do sit up pretty high, so non angled would certainly be easier

They're thin aluminum so they won't hold up to anything. As mentioned they are mounted to the body, not the frame like real sliders.

So I had a chance a couple weeks ago to prove you all right! First major off-roading and I cracked the front driver step, and tore the rear passenger one off in spectacular fashion. My photos don’t seem to want to post, but it was fun, until the wife saw…

So my concern with sliders, which may be my next step, is the possibility of the damaging the frame where they’re bolted on. Anyone seen this happen.

sliders have many more mounting holes than side steps and bolt to the frame. a slider should be able to hold the weight of the vehicle on it if you high centre. I'm sure you will find someone who has broken one somehow but your chances of doing this are very low
