Concern!

I have send 2 emails to Tepui recently but didn't receive any reply regarding my small concern.

I really appreciate if someone can address my concern.

I have 2000 T4R and I am going for Autana Ruggedized which as per tepui website Weight (w/ annex) - 195 lbs. My concern is regarding its weight wrt my t4r body? Should I be concerned or it will be fine. What are chances if I open the tent my truck will be tilted towards the opening of tent.

Note: I will be making my own roof racks.

Some theoretical considerations that might help:

The center of gravity (CoG; the point where the weight of the tent effectively acts upon your vehicle) of the tent should roughly be located at the center line of the tent, which will be located just past the side of the vehicle (see pictures on their website). Therefore, a way for you to test this would be to make yourself weigh 195lbs (probably a little more, to account for the greater moment arm imposed by the CoG hanging over the edge of the truck a bit), climb up onto the roof, sit at the very edge of your runner on the side the tent would extend over and have someone look at it/take a picture for you.

This of course would only be an estimate, as it assumes a CoG location. Also, there is a ladder that might support some of the weight (see pictures).

You should go research and go onto exped expo..... tons of people using RTT without issues....

Ladder will take some load as well, so my concern for slight tilt is gone. Thanks.

Most non-discountinued tents will be back in stock around end of May. Once this GB is a go and everyone paid up, they will be shipped immediately.

Right now, it is not a GO yet, I am waiting for confirmations and a couple more tents.

It's all depending on "interests" right? If 2 dozens of people jump in within a week, then this could have been done and completed by now (not really, we would just be waiting for their incoming shipment..... LOL)

I believed what they have currently listed on their website. They had removed those that they had discontinued (ie. will not be coming back in stock).

So what's the update? Has anyone heard anything. Really wanted my RTT this weekend when my ground tent sprung a leak in a rain storm.
