Hey guys, you may have seen the post I did of when I picked this car up.
It's an 85 Tercel 4WD with a 3A engine. Same as a 4A. 1.5L SOHC. very simple engine.
Here's the problem; I bought it with a "blown-headgasket."
I started it, blows white smoke. pulled the plugs and could see water in the cylinders, pulled the valve cover there's coolant all up in the galleys mixed with the oil.
So I pulled the head, had it milled and checked, replaced the valve seals, lapped the valves, all new gaskets etc.
Re-installed yesterday and the same thing happened. water in every cylinder, water on top of the head.
did a compression: 120/150/150/150. none of them bleed off.
I feel like I can rule the head out. So the next option is the cylinder walls but it has good compression. If there's a crack between an oil channel and a coolant channel, how is it getting into the combustion chamber?
I thought about the intake manifold but there's no coolant running to it like on newer engines.
