Is there a way to power up a radio (2001 4runner Stock CD Cassette) without hooking it up to a car? I want to sale it but need to make sure it works first.
Well, you need to hook it up to 12 volts, ground, speakers, and an antenna. You can get power and ground by clipping a pair of wires straight to the battery, but I wouldn't do it without fusing the power side...
You can also use a 12v power converter and plug it into your garage. Any 4ohm speaker will work plugged directly into the head unit. Odds are that the am/fm works so I wouldn't worry too much about finding an antenna. The most common things to go wrong with head units are the display and the built in amplifiers.
