Well, a sad day has come and gone as I sold my 05 V8 recently.

I can say with certainty the 2005 V8 4R is squarely in the top 3 favorite cage vehicles I've owned. It did everything I needed and it not once left me stranded.

I could go on for many thousands of words that would describe my time and appreciation for what the 4Runner was to me but I know I'd be preaching to the choir.


All in all I had a great time reading and learning from this forum and I can only hope the few small contributions I made to this site will have a positive effect in helping others get past the issues I posted about.

Tundra RW replaces the 4R and life is still good!

Bergs, congrats on your switch to the tundra rw. Been contemplating the same thing...switching to a tundra that is. Have my eye on an 08 limited crewmax. Are you happy with your decision?

Congrats! My recent searches were Tundra RW or T4R V8. I just so happened to find 4Runner first. Both are great and will serve its purpose well.

For the most part, yes.

I quickly found out I was spoiled by certain "creature comforts" of the 4R like the mini visors, the permanent 4WD system, locking center diff, auto heat/ A/C, ease of installing an aftermarket sound system and a few other small things however I am totally enjoying the vast expanse of the bed (and payload) as well as having more tow capacity.

Definitely an adjustment to how the rear diff works in the Tundra and I'm not so impressed by it but it's a small gripe to what it offers over the 4R.

But, the 4runner lacks interior seating space and the tundra has the box and would be a better set up for towing. I told my wife it was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. She rolled her eyes.

Mine is showing lots of inside and outside wear and tear. Still not found anything, new or used, that I like enough to replace it with. Maybe in a couple years...
Can't depreciate much more, and mechanically perfect still is hard to beat.
