Hey sorry about the photo problem, I accidentally moved them in google. Should work now! Also, Usal is certainly on my list of places to see next trip. The road that goes to the beach looks stunning as well. There is no vehicle access on the beach, correct? Lastly, have you heard of Chadbourne Gulch? Looks like that's another beach that can be driven on. Thanks man!

We hiked down from Windy Point to the abandoned Punta Gorda Lighthouse yesterday. Super cool 4wd road getting in, and a cool hike. Saw a bunch of elephant seals, deer, and a black bear.
Take Mattole Rd to Lighthouse Rd in Petrolia. Take Lighthouse to the end, and then go up the hill on Prosper Ridge Rd. Take that to Windy Pt BLM 4WD Rd, which drops you down towards the ocean on some rough two track. Then park on the prairie and walk down the two track to the beach. The lighthouse is half a mile south.

Not expecting any takers since this thread is pretty sloooooooooooowwwww but Wed Jan 6 a group of us are going to do some dirt roads up up up until we're snowed in on South Fork Mountain. It'll be an all day thing. Lunch on the trail, probably some pew pew action in the Nat Forest, guaranteed mud and maybe some extrication needed. Several will have winches and traction boards and other recovery stuff so stock trucks are just fine.
Leaving Eureka at 9am. Comms on 2m.

Edit on the above, will actually be mostly in the Hupa Reservation, running some abandoned forest roads. Should see snow at the top. Map of area:

Well, my 5 years in Calif is drawing to a close, and we are moving back to Ohio. I'm unsub-ing from the thread, maybe it'll cling to life as new people filter in (doubtful).
