no running boards is the way to go, i took mine off when i got my new tires (need to post pics) and people think i got a lift, it makes it look so much meaner. you should trim your mud flaps, i heard so many people saying how they did it and looked so much betterm but i didnt think such a little thing would make a difference but it really does make it look better. but as for the scratches i wouldnt worry, you have such a nice looking runner i didnt even notice!
