That plastic thing near the shifter

I was cleaning out my 03' 4runner yesterday when my shop vac sucked up the tiny plastic cover that is right next to the shifter. I sifted through a pile of crap in the shop vac but could not find the part.

Anyone know where I can find a replacement? Its a tiny silver colored plastic piece that covers what appears to be some sort of connector.

Any ideas?

If you dont have a conscience, prob not spelled right, you can always steal another one off a stealership vehicle. Otherwise the parts dept should be able to get you a new one. :bigok:

That's the cover for the shift lock reset. IIRC someone previously posted about spending $$$ at the stealership to replace such a small part. I would search real good through the shop vac.

It sounds like you lost the cover to the emergency shifter unlock port. I would try the dealer and see if they sell it separately. Did you look through the folds of the shop vac filter? It might be trapped in there.

I spent 30 minutes combing through the shop vac and couldn't find it anywhere.

I did find a ton of other nameless junk though!

Man, I hate paying the dealers for parts. I recently had to replace the Parking Brake Shoe Spring Hold Down. They charged me $20 for a spring, a couple of washers and a pin.

Could have ordered the entire brake hardware kit for $15.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Maybe I'll pay a visit to the used 4runner lot one of these days...

I'm going to hunt through the garbage again and see if I can locate the silly thing.

I got one from my stealership. It was under $5. They had to order it, but it only took a couple days.

Sounds like it's time for you to take a little test drive!

The particular runner that I purchased didn't have that part for some reason so the salesman just took one off of another runner.

I had to replace mine on my '06. Was like $.80 from the dealership.
