I've heard good things on both, which is why they are my primary choices. Back in my Isuzu days, a guy that I knew (before he drop lifted his Rodeo) ran Terra Grapplers and swore by them. Everyone around here seems to be in love with the Duratracs.

It's going to come down to what will cost me less. I know quite a few people besides my Zu buds that run Terra Grapplers and all have had good luck, so that's probably what I'll end up with.


I also have Michelins on my 4R. $1200 worth of them. PO paid big money for some nice mall crawling tires.


I should also note that I am in the planning stages of a Multi-Mode 4WD conversion. I'm attempting to source a donor and figure out what all will be required.

Mods are going to be held off a bit. I had to rearrange my priorities a bit since my hours are going to be cut at work.

Today I did get everything ready for my Hella driving light install, short of actually installing the lights. :tsk: I am still brainstorming and developing a mounting system for them so they can sit on either side of the front license plate.

Anyways, spent today cleaning her up and washing off all the salt that accumulated from the Thanksgiving snow we got. Washed, waxed she looked pretty!

I can check another thing off my list. My dad helped me replace the broken sending unit for my fuel gauge.

Scary moments though when we opened the parts box after dropping the tank. The sending unit looked totally different! I couldn't believe Camelback would send me the wrong parts, I even provided my VIN for pinpoint accuracy (LOL). Well a little research (and only almost giving up once!) we found they introduced a more reliable version, made the proper modification (screwed it into a new spot on the stalk) and now the fuel gauge reads the proper level!

Very nice to see her shaping up into a fully working, functioning vehicle. I just can't wait for more mods and less maintenance. Oh well, truck has to be driveable!

Dang man your truck is so clean. I have a huge jealousy spot in my gut for clean rigs, I need to do some repainting and engine bay cleaning on mine.

Thanks man. I try to keep her clean when I can. She does have a imperfection on the tailgate from before I bought her, and the chrome rear bumper is infected with rust. I definitely need to clean up my engine bay. She'll get a big spring cleaning once it's warmer.

But other then that she's quite clean for a 2000. I am really looking forward to your supercharger install. Maybe one day I'll have one in my 4R. :hiding:

Well today she threw up a P0304 code. A little searching around T4R.org showed up as a Cylinder 4 Misfire, and that it is the common product of old plugs/wires.

At nearly 124k miles, I think it's time for some new plugs, wires and a PCV change. So some more parts will be ordered once I get paid. Hopefully this takes care of the code, I believe the old plugs are the culprit.

Anyways, before she got all bent out of shape, we took some nice pictures







This one was taken while I was in the Mount Washington Valley in New Hampshire. So beautiful up there. This particular mountain is Mt. Chocura, which has a lake of the same name at its southern base. In the summer when the mountain reflects right into the water, it's amazing.


Unfortunately I didn't take more pics in the -30 degree temps, but the 4Runner did great besides the 360 i did that put her into a snowbank. No damage though. 2,300 mile total on the trip.

I really need to get a nice DSLR camera. I love taking pictures, but with my iPhone there is really only so many things I can mess with before it gets too grainy. When I win the lottery I tell ya...

Where did the brush guard all the sudden come from?? Looks great! I think it gives our rigs I real tough look...specially with those Hella light. You don't have any problems seeing at night..lol!

Once all this snow goes away..we'll have to hook up and check out each other Yoda's out!! Where in Columbus do you live?

She is very clean. I was very surprised when I started working on the underside how clean and not rusty she was. I got the brushguard off craigslist while I was in New Hampshire. It was listed at $250, and I was able to get it for $150. I think it does look really good and it was hardly used. Some guy bought it for his wife and they put it on then she didn't like it. My gain! The Hella's should be quite bright.

I live right down 16/Broad Street in Reynoldsburg. Definitely have to do a meet up. Every time I see a third gen I get excited but they're always stock and some woman is driving. There is a lifted black one with bumpers and snorkel running around Reynoldsburg. Some woman driving that one too!

Wow...you got a great deal on your brush guard! It cost that much for shipping...great buy! I was going to get one for mine, but decided to go ahead and buy a plate bumper at Christmas...it was too hard to pass up 15% off. Just waiting now for it to get built!

Definitely a good deal. Yeah I'm in hibernation mode. I need to finish wiring up the Hella's but it's just too darn cold and it doesn't look like it's going to get any warmer soon.

I was looking into an ARB... i just can't justify that kinda money right now for something that for me would be mostly aesthetic, although I would love one!

Spark Plugs, Wire Set, PCV Valve on their way from Camelback Toyota. Once thats done, need to sort out the power steering issue (98% sure the pump died), and then new tires and lift. My suspension really could use the upgrade. Stay tuned for updates. Maintenance is boring, but the truck has to be able to drive. Fun stuff is coming though, I promise.

a couple of updates.

For one, she's growing up :sobbing:

Last Weekend, with the help of my Dad I installed my transmission cooler (B&M 70268) and bypassed the radiator. We also took advice from [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION]'s write up (can't thank you enough for your informative write ups. I owe you a cold brew!) and put hose to connect the inlet/outlet on the old radiator to keep the coolant in the radiator in the event the radiator blows out. Temperatures are running about 20 degrees cooler overall. I'm pleased.

Also installed my CB short of mounting my antenna.

Nope I never tracked down the issue.. been too busy and it's a good arm workout. LOL. I'm pretty sure I'm just low on fluid or something. I'll pick up some extra ATF when I do a ATF drain and refill and also flush my PS Pump.

Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate them. My truck and I aren't super special but the simple fact that she is so damn reliable is good enough for me. Hopefully with a new job I interviews for I'll be able to upgrade my suspension and tires to attack trails on trips I'd like to take in the future.

Hey man thanks for the compliments. The fog lights in my bumper are the factory projector beam style fog lamps. I put Optilux extreme yellow bulbs in there to help cut through the rain, snow and fog. They work great, But I added the PIAA 520's on the brush bar for some high performance big boy fog lights. I spend a lot of time driving and extra lights will help in the snowstorms this winter. The CB is a Cobra 18 WXSTII. I like it, and the weather stations will really come in handy doing recoveries in the snow storms. Plus it fits right in the DIN slot which normally houses a useless storage pocket.

Hopefully I get this job I interviewed for and can upgrade my suspension, tires and add a 4xInnovations bumper for some deer protection and to improve my recovery efforts when I help people in the snow.

I like your truck a lot. Jealous of your set up! I just hope this job pulls through and I can start making serious cash to get this truck cared for properly. She is running great but I'd like to freshen up the suspension with a lift as well as new Ball Joints and do some fluid changes before the snow falls.

Your CB setup is C-L-E-A-N! Care to share how you went about mounting it and any struggles or snags you ran into? I think I like this better than mounting down in place of the ashtray.
