Your CB setup is C-L-E-A-N! Care to share how you went about mounting it and any struggles or snags you ran into? I think I like this better than mounting down in place of the ashtray.

So basically to mount the CB you don't do anything at all lol. I plan to add some hardware later, but the slot you unscrew the DIN pocket from is so tight, as well as the trim piece being pretty tight, that the CB fits extremely snug. You will need a 90 degree adapter for coax at the cb because there isn't enough room once you slide the CB in. I mean it's not going anywhere and I drive on some shotty roads. I do plan on adding something if I do notice it moving around a lot but so far so good.

Probably not the answer you were looking for but it's what I found through other write ups and it worked for them as well as myself. Like I said mounting hardware could be added but i don't see the need at the moment. biggest snag was where/how to wire it. I just got a spare cig plug at Autozone and wired it to that and plugged it in to one of the 3 ports that way I don't lose power to a plug just for the CB, I can always unplug it if necessary as well as it turns off with the truck.

Hey man thanks for the compliments. The fog lights in my bumper are the factory projector beam style fog lamps. I put Optilux extreme yellow bulbs in there to help cut through the rain, snow and fog. They work great, But I added the PIAA 520's on the brush bar for some high performance big boy fog lights. I spend a lot of time driving and extra lights will help in the snowstorms this winter. The CB is a Cobra 18 WXSTII. I like it, and the weather stations will really come in handy doing recoveries in the snow storms. Plus it fits right in the DIN slot which normally houses a useless storage pocket.

Hopefully I get this job I interviewed for and can upgrade my suspension, tires and add a 4xInnovations bumper for some deer protection and to improve my recovery efforts when I help people in the snow.

I like your truck a lot. Jealous of your set up! I just hope this job pulls through and I can start making serious cash to get this truck cared for properly. She is running great but I'd like to freshen up the suspension with a lift as well as new Ball Joints and do some fluid changes before the snow falls.

Yeah I'm a college student myself and I'm jealous you got your truck all squared away before you left! College definitely sucks your money away, even if you continue to work during school like I do.

Some updated photos while exploring with [MENTION=73817]knoxuni[/MENTION].

Coming up I'm going to be doing some maintenance and some small-ish mods. New front and rear brakes, a refreshed suspension and some fluid changes. Hopefully add a couple more lights (can never have enough of those) and do an LED interior upgrade.

I know previously I had mentioned adding bumpers and a lift but that really isn't feasible right now. Have some bills to pay along with tuition for school. Priority is keeping the truck roadworthy as usual.

I do have my new (to me) coils, shocks and front coil overs waiting for installation. ordering front brakes, and am going to inspect the rears when i change a wheel cylinder. Will swap those if necessary. Also going to try to tear in my power steering issue. Hoping like hell it isn't a steering rack!

Hey, got a question for you. Which, set of PIAA's do you have? And how do you like them? I have the 510's in my ShrockWorks bumper, which are ok for fog...but now I need to put a set up on top. Thanks for your input.

Hey Russel,

I have PIAA 520i Fog beam Foul Weather lamps. They don't blind other drivers so I can use them in everyday (foul weather) situations. The 520 series also has good long range driving lamps as well. I found my best deals for them on Amazon or eBay. I love them, and look forward to using them in the snow storms. In fog and rain, they work great. Especially when I have my factory fog lamps (with Optilux bulbs) on. I am extremely pleased with my current lighting set up. Plenty of functional lighting, but I am looking to add a LED bar for some distance lighting.

I must admit, it's still there. I'm going to have to drop the tank (again!), and have someone weld in some fresh sheet metal. Right now the area around it has been sprayed with some Rustoleum to prevent rust and covered with some heat shield and duct tape.

I used Optilux brand bulbs. I think they're just as good as HID.

I am admittedly a clean car junkie. It bugs me to no end right now with my tailgate having several cracks in the paint (and rust showing :crybaby: ) as well as my chrome rear bumper doing what it does best... develop rust! Hopefully both will get replaced at some point.

I do love the PIAA's. Got them aligned properly and am looking forward to using them when heading up towards Canada this winter. Hopefully no super nasty blizzards, but if so, those bad boys will help.

Thanks for the compliments, it really does mean a lot. Just trying to iron out issues and keep up on maintenance while I still get through school. I have big dreams but the cost of tuition and books keeps me pretty well grounded. Haha. I do have some small things coming up that IMO will add to it's clean look. Stay tuned!

first real snow of the year. Camera had a hard time focusing last night, I was fighting it like crazy. these 3 shots made it out alright I suppose. Lol.

Haven't posted on my build in a while. Not a whole lot has changed really, but I "freshened" (it's very un-fresh now) the suspension up in december with some 99 Tall springs and front coils. That stuff was an improvement over what I had, but it has now worn out its welcome. I also bought a set of used Yokohama Geolandar A/T's in the 265/75 size. A great tire for every weather condition. However they are cupped since they were used previously on an unaligned truck, and one is plugged since Jessie got rear ended by a drunk driver. The impact knocked a screw out of my front mudflaps and into the tire. Very sad I was able to use the insurance money to buy a new tailgate with no rust! My chrome bumper will be replaced soon, more than likely with a CBI hybrid rear bumper.

Anyways, She passed 150k this last month, still a baby though. I added (and will be removing soon) a 42" led light bar. It's useless other then making me look like a huge douche since every powercumminmax in the country rocks them now, plus while it is very bright, my PIAA's are still my bread and butter for lighting, so I will be replacing the light bar with more quality PIAA lights so I actually have function over form. The power needs will be met with an alternator upgrade as well, currently (no pun intended haha) doing my research on that whole topic.

Special thanks to @shootsmymime for his kickass ball joint write up, I was able to complete the job pretty competently with the occasional helping hands of my dad. His wisdom and creativity came in handy a couple times, including modifying my tie rod puller to fit specifically on the tie rod for the runner lol. It felt great to get that burden off my chest and work on the Runner of course.

I will be replacing the suspension soon with a Toytec kit. Haven't decided if i'm going to go Ultimate or BOSS, but i'm looking forward to really having fresh suspension. Final things to tie up before winter are replacing a leaky wheel cylinder and some new tires.

I don't have any pictures to post (camera got sold when times got hard) but I'll try to snap a few soon. Everyone loves pictures haha.

That's funny, I've also been noticing lots of trucks with light bars lately. The worst is they are otherwise stock so there is literally no purpose for the bar. I think it's actually a package on the new Wranglers... You get the light bar, white oakleys and a shell necklace... It's called the douche premium pkg I think:banana:
