so i looked under the hood and suspected that the boost port to the 7th wasn't reading correct so i just un hooked it and re hooked it then gave some more slack into the box and i fixed it haha. I'm now getting 13.5 afr under full load, but then it will kick down to 12. so i think I'm pretty good? those seem like decent numbers correct?

Yes those numbers are better. From your video it sounded lean. At high rpm just before you shifted.

Yes that soft rubber line can not be pinched. That what happened to yours sounds like. Sweet man!

Stay with the stock OEM replacement. No upgrades or changes needed here. Our coils don't put out a huge spark voltage and being supercharged doesn't change anything.

One word of advice, replace the wires one at a time! They are confusing on how they are routed and easy to mix them up.

A lot of guys are running NGK's plug wires. They're suppose to be as good or better than stock?? I figured for $35...you really can't go wrong. They sell them all over. I purchased mine from LowRange, which I believe they're having some sort of a Father's Day sale??? I received an email on it...but not needing anything, I didn't pay much attention to it.

The main reason I bought NGK's, the wires are numbered so you're less likely to mess up the firing order. Oh and most importantly...they've a pretty BLUE :art:!!!

Haha, yeah the blue is fun. I had the blue NGK's on my old Pickup just for kicks. Nothing else is blue on my 4Runner though so I didn't get them this time, stayed with the DENSO stock replacements.

I live in phoenix so it is hot. The meth injection interests me over the 7th kit. It seems most people inject the 50/50 before the throttle body. An auto friend of me who has had wrx and evo cars tells me I would loose the cooling factor of the injection if I put it before the supercharger as the supercharger just heats the air again . He said it would be better to inject in between the supercharger and engine. Any knowledge about this on our 4runners?

Nope. Put it on the intake tube before the throttle body so it's on low vacuum so it won't have a strong suction to pull food while your not wanting it to spray.

It would be pretty difficult because our supercharger are not designed like his turbo 4 cyl.

The supercharger is so close to the engine you would have to tap each runner (6) and put a nozzle in. That at that point it's on the vacuum/boost side of things.

It would be the best to do it like your thinking.

Not to mention when you inject it before the rotors you help seal it and it gives you more boost pressure. (I gain about 1-2 psi when my injector kicks on)

Your friend is probably right but how would be my question. I don't think there is any good place to install the spray tip between the supercharger and the engine. Before the TB is just easy and the difference probably is minimal.

I'm going to run meth after I get it tuned with my AEM piggy. I want to inject it on the top of the supercharger just after the air leaves the blower.


And shoots it wouldn't suck any of the meth out of the nozzle on the pressurized end... It would keep it from dripping if any thing because it has back pressure.

just make sure it will cover all cylinders and not miss one and cause some damage. that could be a problem

It's still not a for sure thing, but if I remember correctly that was an issue with early 7th injectors (not sure if it is now). I probably would have two injection points, 1 pre super and 1 post any way.

Yeah the early URD "7th injector" wasn't an additional injector but 6 larger stock ones. Then they realized that adding one before the charger was not only much easier to install but also had the extra effect of cooling the compressed air and creating more boost by sealing the rotor blades.

I'd still be concerned about un-even distribution of the meth though, especially if you are going to run a smaller pulley. You may have a the middle cylinders run rich because it'll be pulling the air in so fast from under the supercharger that it may not make it all the way into the furthermost intakes. If you've ever looked at your intake manifold you'll see what I mean. Having one before will help, but that second nozzle is probably just going to get sucked down whatever intake pipe is closest to it.

I can see your concern, but where I am going to put it, it shouldn't be an issue. I am thinking just bellow and the right of the TRD Logo on the top of the blower. I could be wrong, but that should be a turbulent enough spot to distribute the flow. I can check using CFD analysis, but like I said I am not sure that's the direction I want to go for sure yet..

and to be honest running rich isn't a concern.. its the cylinders that will be running lean when I dial down the fuel that will be the issue. Also I don't think I am going to go smaller pulley, too much risk of blowing the motor up to do on a dd.

Yeah that location could work, I know what you are talking about. And to be honest, when I had injectors cleaned a few years back for another vehicle the owner told me it's better to have a slightly richer fuel mix in the center of the engine since it's hotter than the cylinders on the outside of the engine. He flow matched my injectors to the ones that had 1-2% more flow went in the middle.

Anyone on here with Meth kits already? Extensive tuning involved, or did you find the plug and play systems were sufficient enough? Thinking of going this route as in forced to get a slightly smaller pulley(can't find stock size anywhere).

For the 7th you forgot

Con:

Only can tune top end
Still allows for knock mid range
Expensive


Also the meth kit is not easy to tune it is just easy to install. To properly tune it you would need a piggy back. That being said the meth kit is attractive in the sense that even if it isnt tuned you won't be wrecking your motor (unless you really f up and flood the motor), just you won't be making as much power.

Meth is awesome when you pair it with a proper tuner ie not something from URD

I don't have time to go big on this response, but meth is great. I am going at tuning in stages:

1. AEM FIC 6 - base tune I will post here with full instructions (worked on them tonight)



Next depending on the afr numbers I see

Notice how smaller pulley is the last thing on each of the lists. This is because though it may be tempting to boost power this way, on an improperly tuned vehicle it can and will cause damage. The meth kit is a nice addition and will help hp numbers before going for more boost. Plus as stated above there are many many advantages of water meth injection on a tuned vehicle. That being said I WOULD NOT just bolt on a meth kit unless I tuned it...
