It's too big. It doesn't fit. It hurts.

I saw a late 90s Blazer the other day. Just like my mom used to have. It was perfectly sized. It was a lot lower, too. At least the hood itself. I was surprised by just how much lower it was.

I couldn't believe how much smaller it was. I want good old smaller rugged body on frame vehicles. Current trucks are like Ron Jeremy trying to fit into a cheerio.

You won't see a "Rugged" SUV with a low hood like the Blazer anymore; shit... be thankful that sedans and coupes have relatively "low" hoods as is instead of bulbous things. Crash safety standards, specifically the ones related to when you mow people down are the main cause of the hood bloat.

Not to mention sound insulation, crash structure, room for all your bells and whistles, and so on. Stuff has to fit somewhere.

It compared the same width-wise to our 2018 Honda Accord and was actually shorter in length than the Accord too. Go figure.

Exactly what I was thinking. I parked my 5th next to my 3rd last night and the 3rd is noticeably smaller. Maybe the OP needs a 3rd gen in his life. For me, you can't beat the 5th gen as a daily driver compared to older gens.

Had an 84 Bronco II, with a 2 1/2" lift and it was a great smaller suv about the size of a jeep or the old chevy s10/gmc jimmy.

OP should look for an old FJ if he thinks his 4Runner is too big, sorry, Toyota doesnt make them anymore.

consumerism at its finest. we want MORE. more creature comforts, more horsepower, more seats, more trunk space for all the CRAP that we feel like we need to bring with us everywhere. more headroom, legroom, hiproom because humans have also grown to enormous sizes compared to 20-30 years ago. more more more. also cars are getting safer, crumple zones are much more improved than they were in old vehicles. all that takes up space. we like our toys - boats, jetskis, bikes, atvs. well we need a vehicle that can pull them - MORE towing capacity! all that 'more' takes up space

30 years ago. That’d be 1992. There were plenty of large vehicles then. Just off the top of my head: That’d be the year that the Hummer was introduced. The Corvette, Camaro and Firebird were inexplicably huge compared to their predecessors. In fact most of the GM stable was still pretty sizable. My Mom had a ginormous Buick Park Avenue. You could fit 4 bodies in the trunk.
